Got ambushed by Turul last night on our way to Kukulkan's spawn point. Beat him in what was a very fun fight, no drop though.

Go in, grab a handful of ruby kills to speed light building with chests and then just go to town on Saplings kill-shotting with Raiden Thrust for Amber or just dropping Drakesbanes to speed up the kills. Saplings give no ruby so you don't have to worry about WSing freely. I don't usually have the time to even attempt long term farming sessions so I just rush straight to the lights that'll get me dark rings. It's worked out pretty well for me.

Going back a few days on this…I have not had much luck at all. Done about 4 2-hour sessions or so in the past week and gotten maybe 3 rings total.

Best one I got so far was -3% pdt & -6% mdt.

Just wanted to note however, that killing 3 Pavens (amber style) usually boosts me over 200 amber, sometimes capping me. much faster then building of regular mobs/chests.

I'm still disappointed with CoP on the whole. People are all "oh it's my favorite storyline and the best story ever", and I'm all "No it's not. It's just a bunch of pretentious bullshit that sounds fancy and meaningful to people who don't know any better."

You know what CoP really had going for it? Awesome visuals, that's what. The artistic direction for a good portion of it was pretty top notch.

I thought CoP's story was awesome because it delved deep into Vana'diel's history, elaborated on the cosmology of the world, went beyond the creation story to explain the why of Vana'diel's existence as well as the children of Altana which was mindblowing, and featured a cast of characters who participated and acted on their own very specific motivations rather than obviously tagging along just to provide exposition for a mute protagonist. Apparently that was not why I liked it, though?

This is pretty much what did it for me too. I'll admit I didn't understand everything that was going on, but I got the gist of it. I attribute that more to the horribly broken pace at which missions got done back in the day. You'd do a mission now and get the next one done three months later (or more...) Still, it tied into RoZ pretty strongly and at the end I felt like I really "got" Vana'diel. In terms of world building ToAU was mostly fluff except for the legend of Alexander and Odin. My biggest regret is not getting to do Apocalypse Nigh to "really" wrap up RoZ + CoP.

Also, Cid, did you do the cutscenes that come after the battle? The ones where you have to meet all your companions one last time? Might want to trigger the Apocalypse Nigh quest too. Prishe sure was acting...well, I won't say anything.

My buddy killed 3 Bukhises with a brew for me (10/50 wings woot). It was quite insane to see him 2 shotting them with cloudsplitter. Probably could have fit 2 more in had we had the people/pops.

Also, just an fyi Ket, Shoggoth is soloable with a slug. It’s better to go with others so you have less chances to upgrade, but if push comes to shove, it’s soloable (as well as the other 2 upcoming vnms)

I probably should.

Maybe I'm just biased. CoP's script just reads like a terrible anime, complete with inane pseudo-philosophy. There are decent concepts and world-building in there, as TM and Armando pointed out, but that doesn't really excuse the poor presentation.
It really gets under my skin how people sing CoP's praises as though it were some unparalleled tale, but when I've gone through it I've been face-palming and head-desking through just about every cutscene. Characters babble at length without saying anything and there's stuff that just isn't explained clearly. For example: I still don't know who or what the Keeper of the Apocalypse is. I suspect it refers to Promathia, but it was never clearly confirmed and they go back and forth about who bears that title more than a few times, compounding the issue.

CoP is just very poorly written. Its reputation as OMGBESTEXPANSIONEVAR utterly baffles me.

Lets see:

Killed the Diabolos T3 VNM in Grauberg for his atma (Atma of the Endless Nightmare) and the Gifted Earring (+45MP, +3 Blood Boon, +3 Conserve MP) for SMN.

Killed Kirin x2 with my new LS. The other 3 SMNs and I essentially did everything while the THF just stuck it with TH the whole time. No noteworthy drops... but we did rip him apart.

Finished my pop set for Eccentric Eve and gathered a group together to kill it in hopes of getting my Ocelot Gloves. No drop... even with Blue proc *sad face*.

Finished my pop set for Lacovie and decided to be a nice guy and offer it out in a shout for random peoples. Again... got blue proc and TH9 on it... and still didnt get anything besides +2 items. I have a feeling that the drop rate last night was broken.

Killed Smok 2x for Mhurron and a LS mate to get them their DRK neck pieces. So congrats to them on that. Smok is kind-of a chump too... fun fight.

Finally Capped Ninjutsu Skill.

Got really excited when I found out that the animation for Blade: Hi on a TaruTaru includes a backflip. F*** Yeah.

Got about 9-10 more Atmas towards my current ultimate goal of Atma of the Savior.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand... got 10/10 Cirque Body Seals for my PUP. Never again...

After playing smn for a bit and realising my bloodpacts were ... meh !
I dinged 70 last night and pretty much raped in the tree. I still have some gear to work on but eyeballing the numbers I didnt seem to be doing too bad.
