Studied up for the fight by watching two youtube videos of people soloing it as BLM. It didn't let me solo it myself, but I was able to come up with a good set of macros and buffs for it.

It was just a little too much for me and someone else in the LS who needed it, so we had to go finding people needing 9-1, and fighting that slime again. Meripo, magian trials, and probably now Abyssea have addled people to the point where they can't fight a mob that requires you to actually freaking pay attention and not just go auto-attack on it.

We get up to the Throne Room and the other guy missed a cutscene because of an 8-2 cutscene, so he couldn't get in. (I have tweaked wiki a bit in that regard now.) So I decided to try it duo and was glad I did because I had forgotten my vermy, which was my resting gear. It probably didn't matter much, but I'm sure it helped a bit during buffing.

So two of us go back to Bastok. Then I take the OP warp to Xarcabard and... my PS2 freaking hung after I zoned. It's not the first time this has happened and I think it's connected to the OP warp NPCs being slow to respond. (I even tried to get signet from an NPC the other day and it hung in cutscene mode for two minutes before I cycled power.) Yet another visit from the d/c monster. Both today and two days ago one person each time was d/c-ing a lot on 9-1, and it made everything much harder than it should have been.

A couple of minutes later I get in (thanks for POL, SE, it's awesome, I love that extra two minutes) and we trudge our way back to the Throne Room. We go in, first form goes okay as usual, then I buff up again and this time I waited for Zeid to pop his pets before casting Blizzaga. That was the key to the fight, and why the previous run failed... I was trying to guess the timing and it went off just before he popped them, so I ended up three-on-one with teh haet all over me. Then I drop a Freeze II, and I know it's about time for the pets again. Sure enough they pop up and I give 'em another shot of Blizzaga, ending the fight.

Now I get to figure out what to spend my 23K CP on before I get out of this hellhole.


EDIT: Oh yeah, and got a Tranquilizer for my PUP. Now it's finally complete. A Thunder Spirit Pact is now on the top of my list.

All I can say is, thank you SE for Abyssea!

Since Abyssea has come out, I have:

Taken Blu and Drg from 75 to 80.
5-6 sword merits (capped)
1 Assimilation merit (capped)
4 MP merits (6/8)
Capped Physical Potency merits
4/5 Blue Magic Potency merits

Coming from someone who spent alot of time soloing exp/merits, I can't believe that I'm getting exp this fast and actually getting merits in a timely fashion! My Blue Mage went from having relatively few merits to almost being completely merited out!

Got BST to 77 the "hard way" yesterday (aka no Abyssea... I did it all in campaign now that it's not trendy anymore) and already half way to 78.

And I fought Maat for BST. He was no match for the new (aka non-sucky) jugs. Hooray +1 inventory. I need to try him on RDM again now that I'm 80. Hopefully he won't resist every sleep again.

Decided to log in pretty late on Friday on a lark and found one of my LS leaders /sh'n for a DM run. Joined it.. now I have a bushi and can finally start possibly getting another storyline done and gone. Fairly ez fight with people now at 80.

Did a all-day Abyssea party on Saturday and started off as the chest-bitch with my 70THF ... now I gots an 80THF with a couple of merits.

Wife went on vacation for a week, so got 4 jobs to 80 plus 16 merits. 1,045,000 exp.
Also got a few more AF pieces, so now 110/120 for AF. Just a few more NM's to kill.

Since I've been back for a week;

1) Got sea access, was stuck at airship fight for abit.
2) Got BLU from 75 to 80, and combined with getting sea access now have almost all the spells(haven't done 8-1 yet so don't have Vertical Cleave/Actnic Burst/Reactor Cool) and absolutely LOVING the self Refresh spell, lessens downtime by so much. Although now I'm hoping that at 81 we get 10 Spell points instead of the usual 5, even once I cap Assimilation I'm gonna be pretty tight on the spells I want set.
3) With the CoP level caps gone, did the map quests, got some Subligar that I've been wanting and went 1/1 on Soboro for my 60SAM. Trying for Voyager Sallet but it's camped pretty often.
4) Did my first pet burn today synced to 53 at the leypoint camp on my BST. Went through alot of jugs but still alot of fun, went from 61 to 63 thanks to some xp rings so I was able to get out of a particularly annoying level range since the mire camp constantly has people doing trails on my target mobs.

Abyssea is also very awesome, takes awhile for the lights to build and such but after that it's alot of fun, I do still believe the majority of the people at SE are retards but it's nice to see they actually designed an event that allows almost every job to contribute. Melee are nice for pearl and ruby lights, BLU and other mages are great for building azure. Just wish the Aurore set wasn't pink, legs are my best tp piece since I don't have Homam >_<. Gonna need to dat mod those later.

Nothing much really...

But I finally started in on the Trials of Magians for dagger the other day. Admittedly I really didn't know how to read the wiki chart regarding the different pathways so I now have on Renegade sitting around and proly not going much further with it for good long while. I did not realize the NM upgrading line was a separate entity from the elemental until I examined the chart more closely. After popping Triple Black Stars 2x (wiki says 3x but that seems to be wrong) I was completed on that trial and burnt out of popping NMs for a good long while. Also, reading up on Serra intimidated the holy hell outta me and I've experienced that bastard Bugbear Strongman taking hours upon hours to pop already with a buddy long ago...

So I switched over to the elemental side and killed 51 rabbits in The Boyahda Tree last night. 51 because the last one of course got a friggin' link. I also tried my hand at Unut who popped during my stay and got my ass handed to me. After his 680dmg Foot Kick I just couldn't gain enough TP to recover from that and the lil bastard seems to have a very high accuracy along with triple attack.

During my stay, 4 coffer keys dropped for me; but, I couldn't get rid of the one I already had on me cuz every coffer I opened was a stinking illusion until my last attempt after I'd completed the trial and it yielded just over 10k.
