anyways I didnt want to be Female but i wanted those Stats for being a Samurai. But I didnt want to Be a chick so I picked Male Hume (Avatar) because there even and can be good at anything. I RP a lot! and I dont like RPing a Cat GIRL! or any Female.

Hmmm, things like that shouldn't cause such an identity crisis. I guess playing Donkey Kong Country drives you out of your gourd since you aren't really a gorilla? And how severe is the RPing you're up to, that it would be ruined for you by playing a female? 9/10 times I meet new people in-game, they assume I'm a female just based on the way I normally talk/type. I could be sitting there playing, my wife watching on and verifying that I was behaving extremely naturally, and be singled out in party chat as "she" and "her" even with other Mithra around.
I wouldn't imagine RPing a Mithra would be so different than RPing a male of any other race. Not severely enough to warrant the inclusion of male Mithra PCs. You could always have picked the "cat-hair" Galka model, pretended to be a Mithra man, and been a pretty fine Samurai.

It just seems like such a non-issue to have had so much debate.

If you are playing as a Mithra you will most likely be called "she" even if you continuously joked about penta thrusts and fun holes. People just refer to other people by their character's gender for ease. It's awkward to say "he" referring to an overly masculine-acting Mithra charcater just for them to correct you.

This isn't a non-issue, it's a actually very interesting for few of us. Such psychology is overly inabundant in today's society, such knowledge would be worth its proverbial weight on gold in certain careers.

I don't find it awkward at all to refer to a female character as male if I know that the player is male.

It's as much of an issue as some people are willing to make it, I suppose. It's a non-issue for me, because I'm not concerned with the gender of my fellow players. That is secondary to what kind of player they are.

Which careers exactly? I'm kind of curious what you mean.

Advertising is a pretty good example. Sure, anything can look good in a certain light, but targeting a specific audience and knowing exactly where to find them is much harder. Even if that audience would normally have nothing to do with your product, it's still always possible to spin your advertisments in a way that sparkles for them, but you have to understand that audience to know how.

While you're not entirely off base (I've worked in advertising), I'm not sure what playing a female character in a game has to with that. Most people don't care about the gender of their character or the characters of others. At least from what I've seen in my time playing MMOs. It's the rare (and sometimes vocal) few who have a problem with it.

So really, this kind of info would be almost entirely useless unless you're specifically targeting that niche market.

I meant that Mithra 1 and Mithra 2 were "he" and "him" and I was still "her." Maybe it was precisely because I wasn't shouting about the "Mithra Fun Hole - Do you need it?" that they assumed I was a lady.

And I gotta say we must be on 2 different pages about what's being debated here. Which psycological aspect of all this is so valuable to advertisers? The fact that they tried to include one of the more enduring Japanese sexual fantasy archetypes to appeal to sex-starved, male computer gaming addicts only to have these gamers protest when they can't be a part of the whole "Dragon-Pink" cat-slave fantasy without being the objectified member? It makes perfect sense given the mind-set of the average gamer guy. Use the "sexy" to get them fired up about the game in the first place and let their natural desire to excel in a virtual world keep them hooked.

The only problem is that 'psycologically' they want to play as the cat-women's natural mates. It's the same reason so many FFXIers are so seemingly disgusted when they discover that the objects of all their virtual affections are most often gamer-guys themselves. They first make the assumption that every other male playing the game must feel the same as they do on the topic of Mithra "hawtness." Then they think, "Oh noes! If I was a Mithra, I'd be getting that kind of attention! How do Manthras deal with it? Eww, they must like it! Yeah that's it. Gross! But if I were a Cat-Boy I would have a harem of Mithra girls to talk about in RP and I wouldn't be perceived as gay-ish."

I thought sexual harassment was a video you watched on the first day of a new job, before I started playing this game as a Mithra. And if you get the whole "Fun Hole" treatment from some guy, saying "Hey now buddy I'm a guy, and it's not right to talk to me like that" is a total cop-out. I let them keep on thinking I'm a girl and tell them it's not right to talk anybody like that and throw the "Little Worm Rod = Too weak to be worthwhile" at them and let them see how it feels to have a stranger talk about parts of their bodies that they'll never see. Even friendly guys that I'll chat with from time to time will eventually try to work in some booby talk or innuendos.

The bottom line is, it really is a non-issue. It doesn't change anything about how the game works. Everyone had the choice to be plain-looking Humes, angelic looking Elvaan, cutesy Taru, or beastly Galka & Mithra. You could pick a Mithra knowing they were females or pick anything else. The only trains of thought that could lead one to feel there was a need for Male Mithra would be heavily influenced by self-insecurities or a poorly defined identity. Hell, in 10 years when this whole game is gone and done, none of it will matter anyway. It won't matter if your cartoon cat-person had an imaginary weenie or not. And if anyone argues that it would matter, ....

No they are genderless. There are no male or female Galka as they reproduce asexually via what is pretty much reincarnation. They are big and muscular, therefore a gendered race looks at them as being male when they characterize them in terms they understand.

Well all the features of a male minus coming short on one thing according to SE :+D
Other than that I wouldn't mind seeing a femal Galka, can't be any more tramatizing than having the goblin RSE codpiece pointed out by a friend while I was fighting a goblin fisher.

EQ2 had female ogres. They were pretty rough looking, but a surprising number of folks played as one.

yeah but there is a big diffrance from Mithra and Galka......

Mithra have a male side, but they dont really leave the main homeland due to many reasons...other then not really wanting to I bet hehehe

Galka are genderless, but have all the looks of males, this was mainly to offset Mithra's female only playable aspect and there for you still have the balance of male to female choices in picking a race.

                            sooooo....

Mithra= female and male (female playable only)
Galka = male and NO female (reincarnation is their means of reproduceing)

oh and just to throw it in here again.... lol

Mithra will be female playable only always, and males will show up in what ever expansion has the Mithrian Homeland in it (most likely the next one)

think about it for a sec.....

RoZ added some islands and new areas on the main two contenets
CoP added a new deimention and eve more areas in the main contenets
                            ToUA added East areas
???? will add south areas (Mithra homeland)
???? will add west areas (maybe a new race)
???? will add North areas (maybe 1 or 2 new classes)
???? will be the last expansion adding in the last bit of big content (guessing thisone)

of course they could go farther if FFXI is still makeing the bucks and their other MMOs do fly

it all boils down to "IF" and "COULD"

look at EQ it has what 8 and an new one coming out even after is sequal has been out for a while :p

Nah, they reproduce asexually. Ever wonder why they're so big? They lay an egg inside of themselves, later to be hatched.
