Well if they Did make Male Mithra playable. I know they would try to make Mithra players the chance to swich the Male =\ but if not why not just pay 1buck to make a new character?

Why on earth would they give people the chance to change gender? Are we just making up rules for how SE works now?

I'm sure some folks would start over, but I can't see a lot of people giving up the rare gear, and exp, and everything they'd done just so they could be male.

yeah and if you have problems like not ever being female, just because you are male IRL, then you need to chill, I have been a female in every MMO and MO I have ever played just because I dont want to sit there and stare at a guy for 8 hours -.- and yeah its "a bunch of pixals" but you know what? those pixals form a very nicely rounded butt on my screen lol

I don't even care about the gender of my character, really. It's all about the aesthetics for me. I've played both male and female in different games, and really it doesn't matter to me which one I play. I have noticed that my casters tend to be female more often than not. But that might have something to do with their casting animations.

Anyway. I'm a guy, but I'm not afraid to play a girl. And it's not because I like looking at her ass. I just think she looks cool.

I'm Tarutaru. You just TRY picking out my gender when I have a hat on.

But for what it's worth, my first character was a Mithra too - because of the DEX and AGI.

But having a character that represented my gender (I play with my wife) was more important to me than superficial differences in manual dexterity, and so I created the Sam we all know and love.

I can't imagine hitting on Taru anyway. :/ Not that I don't think they are cute! I really do.

Seriously, I have crazy Taru envy. It doesn't help that half of my LS is made up of them.

I Got no problem with being a Girl Character but if im RPing I wona be a Guy. I Played and beaten every Tomb Raider game and soon i wona get the new game "Heavenly Sword" Because they look like good games.

But in MMORPGs I am a Major RPer.

                  Sounds that way.

Oh, but wait. If you're, you know, playing a role...then why does it matter what gender that role is? I mean, my character is an elf, but if I were to play in an RP LS would that mean I'd have to play a Hume?

                  God, it's all so confusing!

You want to know why it's weird? Because everything you do in a video game represents who you are in real life. The problem lies in which part of you your actions represent, and I think that's where a lot of people just assume "He likes being a girl in video games so he's probably weird like that in real life". For males playing Mithra you could pretty much seperate people into three groups: A) I like staring at a female model all day, B) Mithras make good thieves, and C) I secretly wish I were female. People would rather not hang out with that last one, and group B is usually race/job dependant. This translates out to three different kinds of people: A) I'm a pubescent sex-crazed youth, B) I prefer to excell at my first choice in race/job combinations, and C) I'm an odd person who often wonders what it would be like to be female and the internet is my laboratory, so expect to see more and stranger experiments. Personally, I'd rather hang out with B, but these are all just vast generalizations about males playing female characters, so it's possible to find friendships in any one of them.

I tend to say he and she a lot, and I don't like saying "she" just because the model is female, so it's important for me to know. I'll probably avoid you if you prefer to remain ambiguous as that's always a tell that you're a strange person, and we all know it's the strange people that cause a lot of drama.

I'm not sure to what point this post serves, so I'll sum it up as "Understanding leads to acceptance". If you understand how strange they really are it's easier to accept them as a person, but if they continuously surprise you with new depths of wtfweird then your acceptance of them might be reluctant or non existant.

The most confusing part is when you refer to a Mithra as 'she' and the player gets all offended.

Like I'm supposed to know your gender when you play a girl.

I generally don't assume either. I mean, on the one hand, it's not really any of my business. And on the other hand, I just don't care enough, because I'm not looking for hot, hot lovin' in my MMO. So it doesn't concern me really what the gender of the person is on the other side of the character. I just ask that they know how to play.

Galka are Asexual, so they are kinda both.

The somewhat unfair assumption of a male picking a female character is that they're out to con people out of stuff. I say that because I've known real female players to do that. Hell, some of them have gotten away with murder from social linkshells to the HNMLS scene. Still are. Any person who uses gender specifically for their personal gain in an MMORPG is a player I want nothing to do with.

Making a male mithra, however, wouldn't stop the occurance of males picking female characters or vice versa. It would still take place. I know men that play female Elvaan, Hume and Tarutaru. I also know women that pick male characters, Galka even.

And guess what? Male or female, when you pick the male, the gender bias and come-ons stop. Males don't see the special treatment. And really, I don't think its weird for a woman to pick a male character, because after seeing how their side lives in-game, I see where they're coming from on the RL side on some things now.

I met one woman who played a male hume, I was a tarutaru back then and the /panic craze continues. I did a /panic and the woman in that character just show up going ga-ga over the taru cuteness. Tarutarus are like kryptonite to many women

As for "everything you do in a video game represents who you are in real life" its more or less true. I am a very strange person. However, you're ultimately judged by personal character. I know good male and female mithra players, I also know a lot of greedy jackasses of both genders that play mithra. If you are a woman in RL, I will treat you like a lady unless you've proven you're not worthy of such a title. If you are male, I'll respect you until you've proven you're not worth that.

The only character I really care that anyone plays is a skilled or selfless character. I like to work with people who play well and pay it forward. One of the core things about my LS that has kept me there so long is that we help each other out and ask nothing in return. Those that can't deal with that idea don't last long with us.
