    Dynamis isn't really instanced Jei. This is what instanced means:

    It means that several groups of people can hit the same zone at the same time, because a copy of the zone is created for each group. This is also known as instanced. In this manner, the groups will never encounter each other, because they're in a zone all to themsevles.

    However, Dynamis is not instanced. It's reserved but not instanced.

        oh yea, that's right! dynamis ISN'T an instance... it's just another zone! cuz you can only have one group of people there at a time

          Everyone has given good opinions and here are mine.

          I have been playing FFXI since NA PS2 launch, with a 4 month break where i played WoW and got to levle 55 with my hunter. I think that this new instancing in FFXI is more of a response to the current situation than what we think. The way FFXI works, sometimes makes this game SO frustrating!

          I always try to be objective in everything I say. For example, I have gotten to a point where I am giving up camping my YINGYAN Robe.... IMO its just NOT worth spending 23224354654 hours camping it for hours, and then loosing claim. While this is a natural and known fact of the game, it is one that I simply dont like. And one of the reasons I took my break. I am full time manager, and my playtime is not what it used to be 10 years ago. Usually, when i get back to work, I want to login and have some fun. Unfortunatley FFXI mechanics dont help allot. However..... if those instances.... or this assault feature they are about to implement, offers good rewards, they alot of people will be encouraged to do thos events with the safty that nobody will try to MPK, or steal yoru mobs.

          I see this as a good thing, and to offer other alternatives on getting items.

            Also, in instance events, don't you usually GAIN exp? I wonder if this Assault Event will be another one where you do not gain exp from mobs and thusly lose exp at an incredible rate like Dynamis.

            If they changed Dynamis where each mob killed were to produce exp, I think that would be a better change than adding another event that people would die and lose more exp.

            I've spent many a nights with Jeuno exp, and it's not fun.

              I simply think, that offering us other alternatives to get items is a good idea. Now that you mention the XP factor... i highly doubt that we will get XP from assault, but who knows.

                Yeah, not enough detail about Assult is given to state what it'll be like. In many cases the idea instantly brought up the concept of Monster Missions from Everquest. EQ's MMs though are not without their faults, the faults of the MMs do favor the players though in that many use it as an EXP source (Since that's the only thing you get out of doing them).

                FFXI has proven though that they like to play with zone designs a lot more then just doing simple instance zones, and are much more selective on what rewards you should get for certain tasks. So really it's all still a mystery of how those Assults will work, they could potentially be like dynamis and have set timers to go again.

                In that concept design Assult could probably mend the flaws in the MM design if they work in that manner.

                  I just thought of Assault in Yuh Jungle or Yhoat Jungle would be hell. All those hidden tunnels / passageways and so forth would really screw people up :D :D :D I'm going to ass'u'me that they will have time extensions in there, force people to hurry up in there in case these are actually just zones and not full instances where many people have their own zone to go into.

                    Now that you mention it...... Do you guys recall that blocked tunnel just outside of Khazam.... behind that signet guy, where you camp... you go down the little path and there is a wooden gate blooking the way.... I wonder if that will be opened on this expansion....

                      You'd think that? I'd think an assault through Gustav Tunnel would be more hellacious. Have undead everywhere and the moment someone's hp is in yellow... fwahahaha.

                        Everything in this world evolves, its a natural thing.... FFXI needs to do the same to keep fresh and to compete with all those new MMORPG comming out. I am very looking forward into more private or instancing events such as this.

                          With the new expansion comes new missions. The missions for Tau will not all have the same restrictions you're used to seeing with CoP. Assualt missions in their own way create a form of restriction, it intentionally limits a group to do it on their own without external influence of multiple parties/alliances/possible-PL'rs. Subjob restriction is another form of mission restriction we may be seeing more of in Tau. As much crying as people have done about CoP mission restrictions, Tau will bring their own brand of pain and suffering. It'll be interesting to see how the community copes with it.
