What would you do if SE had to end FFXI...

if SE had to end FFXI due to lack of funds (highly doubt) or something similar, u get what im on about...what would you do??
A. Scream: OMG NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO for 1/2hr?
B: Scream: OMGWTFBBQ and jump out ur window?
C: Walk out ur house for the first time in months and breathe the fresh air??
Would be interesting to know cos i kno alot of people who cant cope a week without FFXI what would people's reactions be if FFXI was suddenly ended...

I'd make a major film titled "; ;" in which I document the tragedy, make huge amounts of money from selling copies of the film to SE fans, and use the money to fund SE.

Then make a major film titled "^^", a joyous celebration of the return of SE and FFXI, and make huge amounts of money selling the film to SE fans, and retire so I could play FFXI more often.

The way things are going in the world today, I would probably hire a high profile Lawyer and sue SE for not only loss of property without compensation and emotional distress due to being shutoff from friends, but I would also ask for monetary compensation due to the fact that I had to change my style of life due to negligent actions beyond my control and on their part. That should be the REAL quetion.

How much you wanna bet I would win a lawsuit like that? Just call up my good buddy Cochran...

There wouldn't be anything we could do. We wouldn't get our money back or anything. Several companies have closed games and nothing has happened. The UELA states that they have the right to cancel service at any time for any reason.

Two games that come to mind are Asheron's Call 2, and Earth and Beyond.

They usually give people a free month at the end *shrug*.

Exactly. So many people in this game are tightwads, hoarding millions of gil, for what purpose? Next month, SE could pull the plug on all servers and just exactly what will those players do?

I'm sure this game won't run indefinitely. Once the PS3 comes out, it will be interesting to know how SE will do this. PS2 at that time will all be forgotten and I'm sure to save money, Sony will either cut or reduce support for that unit drastically.

I was thinking about this the other day actually. I'd be totally bummed out. I've invested so much into my character and the friends I've made ... at least I could still keep track of them on IMs.

It'll probably be years before we have to worry about that though. I'm hoping when/if they decide to make a sequel, they'll graft it on like an uber expansion + graphical upgrade, rather than making a new standalone like EQ2 that everyone would have to start fresh on.

If they did ever kill it off, it'd be from low patronage. I don't think S-E is gonna go bellyup anytime soon. They're like "the EA of Japan."
