HNM pop out to be purple?....

so i've been camping with my friend to get his speed belt @ King arthros, we got claim once thats about it, during the last 2 week we didnt get even 1 claim so i'm thinking of asking you guys what are we doing wrong. theres this group there got claim about 7 times during the 2 weeks but everytime i tries to claim it the mob comes out purple..are these people using bot or am i doing somthing wrong? >.> i also heard mob pop base on your connection spd....any thoughts?

Maybe they are spaming something like /ja "provoke" <King arthros>? Do you see them using any spells/abilitys? maybe you try that too.

well, depending on their relation to the servers, it could be latency. someone in japan will have lower latency than someone in the us just by the simple fact that they are 2500 miles closer to the servers than you are. it might be a split second in terms of actual time but if they are spamming their macros too, it makes all the difference.

System latency is also a major cause of this. That is, if you have a moderate CPU/RAM v. someone with a high-end system, they may have that split second advantage as well. Combine that with the "japan effect" and who knows, you might get a full second.

To give you an idea how how much latency there actually is the game, I had my roomates on two seperate accounts same internet connection run side by side through Sarutabaruta. On Roomie #1's computer he was in front, with Roomie #2 a good three choco strides behind. Yet when I went to look at Roomie #2's computer, SHE was in front, and #1 was three chicken feet behind.

So, just to be sure they weren't messing with me, I took the laptop next to the desktop and sure enough, two monitors showed different things. Each person's own computer showed them in front of the other character. They were each about a second and a half - two seconds behind eachother. In -really- bad lag spkes, that time would change to about three seconds apart.

For people spamming claims, three seconds is a LOT of time, and the more people gathered and spaming, the more potential latency.

i thought S.E added delay between the time a mob pops, an when you can claim it? then i thought S.E fixed the probs with mobs going white during battle. but that wasnt the case with me an a few friends not to long ago.

anyways to answer your question 9.9 out of 10 bot K.A. so most likely your being bested by a bot. yeah you do have a very slim chance to beat the bot. but its very slim at best. i know when i used to camp it the same peeps got it almost everytime. oddly they were always the nearest to its pop. if not always facing the exact spot of the pop.

its sad but i been talking about latancy issues for the past 2 years. an players still believe that their is no such issue. but SPF is correct. how well your computer can read the packets. plus how fast you recieve the packets is key vs another player.

Yeah, they did fix it so you can't spam claim them. So if they are popping purple, it's probably botted. Add the fact that it's KA, yeah, it's definantly being botted. Assuming your not having major lag issues, I'd call a GM on them. Not that I think they'd do anything, but you never know, you might get lucky.

One thing I've noticed while camping Fafnir, is that due to the amount of people in the area (and though I haven't camped King Arthro, I'm sure there are scores of people there for its pop), it can take a while for the mob to load for you the further you are away from it.

The "you have to wait a second to claim" rule still applies, however if it pops literally on top of someone, they'll see it instantly and wait a second to claim. You, being further away, take a bit longer for the mob to load, and thus miss even seeing it pop yellow.
