    Ffxi Beginner

    Im am new to the Final Fantasy XI.I've played other great ff games such as ffX,ffX2,and one of my favorites FFVII.But i'm new to the online game,and i didnt know wat to really expect out of it.I've read plenty of reviews about the main game and expansion packs and it seemed to spark my interest,so i went out and bought the game itself.

    ((I havent played it yet but I wanted to ask some of the other people out there thats mabye online a possible suggestion of wat race,job,and classes to start off with since im new,And how do i become stronger and level up quicker so i can get father in the game)).

    congrats on choosing ffxi...

    just to let you know... your first few weeks into the game... your gonna feel overwhelmed... lots of stuff to know and remember....

    just do some searching around the forums for the questions you ask... i know theyre out ther...

      It's more like being a mediator. If you don't deal well with people, this will either make your life more miserable, or make you better.

      MMO 101 is usually about how well you like your community and how well it likes you.

        Well don't come into the game thinking of it as a FF game. Think of it as a MMORPG only. Realize that this game isn't played the same. You can't save whenever and come back and start up from where you left off. Many hours are spent looking for a party and your party is not guarenteed to be good. You'll have a lot of frustration the first 20 levels but if you can make it past that, you'll have a better chance at sticking with the game. You also have to deal with a lot of different types of people. Just like school or a job, this can be a good and a bad thing. There are always bad apples out there and I am sure you'll run into more than a few. Also new players to MMO's are usually picked on more than most, especially if you ask a lot of easy questions, so do lots of homework online. Here are a couple links....study time!!

          Welcome Cloud23, I got to level 20, but I have two chracters on me. You might want to check out gamefaqs.com for guides too.

            the pace of this game is slow. it's a lot slower than console games. you spend a lot of time waiting around for things to happen, and waiting for people to arrive. don't try to be in a hurry to get anywhere or to get anything done, or else ou'll start to hate the game (hehe)

            this was my first mmo, and when i first started playing, every time we would stop to wait for something, it would freak me out. ow i understand that's just the way the game is. it doesn't play fast, like a console game, instead it's real-life slow. you're not in a rush to get stuff done in real life, are you?

              When I first started I was pretty much the biggest retard... -w- Still am I think! >w< My best advice is that if you check the mob and it says 'tough etc.' back away.... Hehe, now I know when you're 15 leave that bloody Gobbue alone and to not wander off... -w-; Ehehe, more importantly just have fun with it! ^-^

                Being a new player also, I can warn you of something.

                The overall User-Interface at first SUCKS SO BAD. (this is ofcourse only if you're playing with PC.) I'd recommend using just the keyboard, as the overall mouse design is not that well thought.

                      LOL. I remember the first day I played this game. I didn't have a USB keyboard or controller. The moment I started moving, I said, wtf? Click and drag my character????? Then I picked up the logetech controller. Best thing to be invented since canned bread.

                        Controller not needed, i've found that it works pretty well to use a simple keyboard. Although your results may vary if you have a keyboard its worth a try using the numpad to move instead of trying to use the mouse.

                          the controller works awesome. it takes like 10 seconds to learn how to play with a controller, and the button setup rocks

                            I have to say that both my son and I play computer games so we are used to using a keyboard. For FFXI, both of us prefer the controller. Its really funny for him since his is a huge fan of the keyboard. He really surprised me when he switched over. So now my son, my husband, and I use the Logitech Netplay controller/keyboard for FFXI and we would never go back.

                              I persoannly like to use my Jedi Powers with my toe stuck into a front Firewire port. Nothing beats just leaning back and letting your awesome control over space and time do the dirty work.
