  • Final Fantasy Lore

It's been a long time since I played a console FF game. Although I have played all of the ones released in the U.S., I don't remember the plot, or the important characters for most of them.

Now that I"m back in FFXI I'd like to read all that stuff. Is there a good source for this?

Hopefully I can read some translations of the plots from the FF games only released in Japan as well, as I never did get to experience those.

Which ones in particular? I could probably recite a basic overview of each game's plot off the top of my head... ⌐_⌐

Hahah that's good PaiPai but there must be a better way...

There's got to be some old Final Fantasy fansite out there with all these things written out that I just can't find because it's 2,000 pages deep in the google search.

            Re: Final Fantasy Lore

from my memory, only the old school ones...

FF1 starts off as a simple quest to rescue princess from the traitorous knight, Garland. Garland escapes into the pass and becomes Chaos, the big boss.
You free crystals from Chaos' minos, giving the light back to the world. Go back to the pass and kill the big boss.
The battle takes place in the pass so the good deeds you do in present don't really exist, there for people will remember you only as a legend that never happens.

FF2 gives the 4 main characters names - Frioniel, Guy, Maria and Lionheart.
The villege where they live was raided by the Baramegia empire.
Losing everything, the 3 except Lionheart joined Hilda's rebellion army.
The emporer of Baramegia was controlled by the evil force called Dark Cloud. Which is the big boss you have to fight.

FF3 my first and favourite FF for a long time. Improved job system from FF1, Introduced duel-wield, multi-him and summoners. You get to fly away from the starting continent on an airship revealing how small our home actually is. That's a really cool part imo. Nothing much about story, you go around freeing crystals from monsters draining their power pretty much.

FF4 Cecil the dark knight who question his own king, the king of Baron. So kind, so generous, one day he turned into a warmonger, hunger for crystals around the world. Cecil, following order against his own will, raid cities and burn down villeges to collect crystals for his king.
Good by heart, he can't follow his orders much longer. He protects Rydia from Baron's assault, helps various cities battle his own king and finally leave his dark pass behind to become Paladin, the warrior of light.
King of baron was a fake, Golbeza is the person behind all the plots. But who could guess that Golbeza was trying to save the world?

FF5 starts when a meteor falls down from sky. They are used as vehicles for 2 groups of people, one who wants the power of crystals and one who wants to protect them. You open your way to the other world to stop Exdeath and his minion Gilgamesh from seizing all power to his own.

FF6. Tine Lock Edgar Mash Setzer Celes Gau Stragus Relm Shadow Gogo Umaro. I think these names should be enough to recall your memory... this FF is that good, I know everyone can remember about it.
