  • FFXI: Movie Trailer Open Voice Over Casting Call

    Hi everyone
This project is for the Final Fantasy XI Fan Festival happening this March. It will be a "movie trailer" for the game. Sure it's been out forever and anyone who's decided to play it has done so but I figure the game was good to me so I owe it a personal thanks
I am working on it with my close personal friends, Jesse Cox (who is a professional voice actor by profession) and Michelle Neece who will be editing the footage I record.
This project will feature just a few short clips of character voices, which of course you will get to 1.) make up a voice for and 2.) have that voice be heard by many of the fans of the game and SquareEnix "bigwings " and personal friend of mine Alex O. Smith (head honcho on FFXII NA release) who I've known since waaay back in the day when I did a Vagrant Story Radio Play.

    AUDITION DEADLINE:
Keep in mind I'm in a rush, and most of the characters only have 1 lines (which chances are I'll just use your audition line if it's good. So the deadline for auditions is Sunday Feb. 19th. at 9:00 Pm est.

    RECORDING INFO:
    Record in format: 44100hz 16-bit Stereo MP3]
Save the lines as "yourname_FFXI_charactername.mp3" (ex: JesseCox_FFXI_Narrator.mp3)
    -Send your auditions to XJadeNightshadeX@aol.com

I can't stress this enough, quality is super important..

THIS IS AN AUDITION HELPER: It's my personal direction on how inflections and "names" should sound. so give it a listen if you'd like to audition or want to just laugh at me

    Characters

    Narrator: (Male)
I'm trying to go for a low, slightly british accented male voice...not like chimney sweep brit... just ever so slight.

Narrator 1: It all began with a stone, or so the legend says...
In ages past, a sentient jewel, enormous and beautiful, banished the darkness...
    so we thought.

    Tenzen: (male)
Tenzen is from the far east, having traveled across the world to aid in the defeat of the "emptiness". So I would suspect he would have some asian inflection. Other than that, play with this voice how you want.

Tenzen: The emptiness, a darkness that swallows everything. trees, buildings, people...souls...
what..what could have caused such a thing.

    Eald'Narche: (young boy)
This young prince is actually a 10,000 year old nut job hell bent on opening the gates of paradise and destroying the world. I'm looking for a male voice, but I'm pretty sure a woman could play this role. When thinking about this role, I would like to direct you to episode 6 (sympathy for the devil) of cowboy bebop. He is very much like that little boy.

Eald'Narche: What lies on the other side of that gate is the dream I have seen for the past ten thousand years..
Don't you want to see what is on the other side? Don't you want to be reborn as a god!? Come with me.

    Nag'molada: (male)
Nag'molada is one of the main characters, he like Eald'narche wants to return to paradise, but he has his own reasons. He is one of the more dark and mysterious characters, but his voice really wouldn't relfect it I think. Nothing deep and scratchy..
I would say he's just sounds like he's up to something. He's got a darkness in his voice, but he doesn't have a deep, evil sounding voice.

Nag'molada: Why not ask your precious Pheonix! They are using you! You people are nothing but puppets! why not open your eyes to the truth!

    Aldo: (male)
Aldo is your typical dashing hero. I don't even need to explain what I'm looking for here, just be dashing!

Aldo: We still have a chance to stop them!

    Esha'ntarl: (female)
While the rest of her people slumbered in a deep sleep for 10,000 years, Esha was forced to watch the world unfold around her and live every day for all 10,000 years. She has become wise and works behind the scenes to defeat evil. For her I would think something more deep, sultry, like a woman who's experienced it all.

Esha'ntarl: it's too late. the gate is opened.

    Prishe: (female)
Prishe is the main character of the latest expansion. I hate to describe her like this, but she really is the Final Fantasy equivilant of the super spunky, doesn't take crap, but does it in an extremely cute way anime chick.
I have no idea how she should sound, but if you understand the description you should have some idea.

Prishe1: What about the avatars? what about bahamut, surely they'd help!

Prishe2: I understand now. I know what must be done.

    Ulmia: (female)
Prishe's long time friend. She is in the choir of her town and supposedly has the most beautiful voice ever. I would say that's a hint on how to make her sound. She should have one of those voices that could rock a baby to sleep, make a man coo, and comfort any woman. This would be a mid-range voice.

Ulmia: How can we hope to defeat a god?

anyway, that's it. short and sweet. If you audition and get a role, I will notify you on sunday. Thanks again to everyone who check this topic out. you'd be doing us a giant favor

-Jesse Cox, Michelle Neece, and Jade "Kerrigan" Mira.
