Question on gil. How much gil = alot?

Hey guys. I'm a retruning player and I'm a lil surprised on gil right now. When I began, 1mill used to be somewhat alot. However, after about 2-3 days of farmingl leisurly (while watching tv) my wallet is 500k. This being after SE's RMT action.

I read around and I see that SH is 10million? Peacock charm is 40million?! <---------- REALLY? (T T) *heart aches*

I'm sorry, I'm just trying to get a general idea. I haven't been to Jueno yet.

I'm a lil 16 THF. Lord knows what I could farm when I'm 30 or higher.

It really changes over time, with inflation.

When I first began playing 3 years ago, I was happy to have 100,000 gil. Back then, there wasn't nearly as much gil floating around in the system so it was worth a lot more. Now, the prices of everything has pretty much risen.

It's hard to say how much gil is "a lot," since that's kind of objective, but to comment on your example, 10 million is indeed "a lot" of gil. It takes a lot of work to make a whole 10 million gil.

And 40 million, well...there isn't much else that's as expensive as a Peacock Charm. A few things yeah, but it's still one of the most costly items.

if you have multipe 75 jobs and are part of a fairly sucessful HNMLS or craft like no tomorrow, then 10 mil is not alot. it's a nice size chunk, but I've seen many such persons with triple or more that amount.

for me, and probably most players, yeah, 10 mil is alot.

I agree with neighbortaru, 10mil is a pretty beefy chunck of gil and you should be able to purchase a lot of "big" items with that with some minor noteable acceptions (nobles tunic, peacock charm, etc)

For new players I think 50-100k is normal, and 300-400k is a lot.
Later on, 200m+ is a lot imo...

a lot of my friends have over 50m just by selling dynamis and limbus currency.

just to put things in perspective, items like peacock and sh are no where near necessary. so if you find yourself gasping at the price, please dont worry. you do not need them. they are by far LUXURY items. in most cases, there are items that are actually better for you and your job and will give more utility for your gil.

Alot increases as you level up. First it is 1k, then 10k, then 100k, then 1m, etc. etc. At end game, an alot can be classified to me as 20m+. I'm guessing if I was good at Kraken Club farming...I'd say anything less than 100m is pauper, but then again I don't farm the club.

1 mil is still a nice amount. In this game, you have several avenues to invest that money and you will be suprised, with a little sweat, how much return you can get.

Unfortunately, 100K doesn't really cut it anymore (It used to back in 2004 ... but that's another discussion)
