Who hates lag? Time outs etc on Hydra

    Who hates lag? Time outs etc on Hydra

    I'm playing the beta and I'm not sure why I log on with my char and I'll receive a couple hundred packets then all of the sudden zero, then a couple hundred, then zero.... and then zero and then zero and then an error code saying I was timed out.

    Sometimes it happens and other times it doesn't, but the main thing in common is that it's annoying.

    I know it's just a beta, but does this frequently happen with PC / PS2 players as well? Because this is like a huge deterent for me wanting to purchase this game. If it doesn't work all the time, it would be even more frustrating to pay for it and have that happen.
    Where is the Hydra server option?

    No it never happens to me on PC.

      Doesn't have happen to me and I played on Hydra. It might be your router or internet connection.

          It happens to me rarely, but I usually find that it's 'cause my router crapped out.

            you're probably dropping packets b/c your router might not be forwarding them correctly. this happens with a lot of routers b/c they are just crap. i remember i had a linksys router and it wouldnt forward any packets correctly. i couldnt play any game when i was behind the router, even after i mapped my ports. lame.

              Call tech support and ask them about your specific router. Find out if there's anything you can do to prevent such heavy packet loss, I know some routers have problems with FFXI when playing on a console.

                  I used to have a wireless network hooked up to my computer. I had that problem -all- the time. You should check with your ISP if you aren't using any sort of router/network.

                    Wireless is utter crap, especially in major metropolitan areas. Too many cross signals and electromagnetic radiation to make it worth getting.

                    They should put disclaimers out, saying to only use in shielded areas 5 inches away from the routers or with amplified broadcasts or out in the boonies.

                      I use wireless and I'm not in the boonies. In fact, I'm in the largest metropolitan area for my state. We haven't had a single issue with our wireless router. We have 5 computers hooked up to it and everything runs nice and smoothly. It's all situational. Some people will have problems for various reasons and their next door neighbor could have it work just fine. Wireless is improving all the time so don't think so badly of it.

                        Happens to me constantly, but the problem is on my college's side and not pol.

                              I played from 4pm to 10pm and didn't have 1 disconnection. It's on your side i'm afraid.
