Did I do the right thing?

Ok, so I was leveling my level 43 blm at Crawlers nest. I was invited into a party, consisiting of a drk, nin, smn, whm, and a drg. All was good: we started fighitng crawlers, and everyone was getting decent xp. During the second fight, the nin suddenly said that he had to go, because he was missing a race, and for some strange reason, he died during that same fight. With the nin gone, I was trying to find a tank as best I could, but none were available at our level. After about 5 minutes, the drg and drk start acting retarded and spam my window with dice rolls (not even searching for a tank anymore) and eventually, start making sex jokes about the female hume smn. I was calming her down in /tell, and the drg finally says that he found a nin. So these 12 year olds go back to making sex jokes, saying stuf like "Oh yeah, we promised you'd give the nin a lap dance". Me and the smn were getting sick of this, and I d2'ed me and her out of there back to Jeuno.

Was what I did the right thing? Maybe I could have told them to shut their traps, or even blist them, but in the end, they just seemed to be a couple of 12 year olds who were really raucous. What do you guys think?

I dunno, personally I would've told them off before removing ourselves so they would at least know why I did what I did. Other than that, I honestly can't blame you for reacting that way. Even a 12 year old should know what is and isn't appropiate. And you were certainly within your right to leave. I think you did a good thing in supporting and taking care of the female smn.

I think you probably could have told them and they wouldn't have payed any attention because they were busy goofing off. Good thing you didn't party with them too much.

They sound really irritating. I don't know, I usually don't care much about what my exp party members say. But the spamming dice roll part was really retarted.
I think your leave might have more impact if you let them know the reason.
Because they probably ended up having no clue whatsoever why you left and they can put the bad words on you.

No you did the right thing, esspecially if, as it seems, that the other pt member was getting upset. You should go ahead and post thier names on your servers boards just as a heads up to people to becareful around them.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention something about these two guys.

When another party came by, the drg and drk were telling them to screw off (in those exact words), saying that this was our spot. When the second party accidentally pulled 2 crawlers, the drk and drg were only laughing and saying not to help them. I really thought that was a mean thing to do.

I agree 100%. Even if I did say something in advance, or even got a replacement, they would have either not pay any attention to me or curse me off. As for me gaining a bad reputation from these guys, I would assume they've done a lot in the past to gain a really crappy reputation, and noone would heed their words if they've been in the game long enough, but that's just me

Eh, your gonna see this alot. You did the right thing, but at the same time, once the 360 ver. is out you might as well get used to it. I know in the year I played getting my PLD to 75, I not only saw, but participated. Grinding is insanely boring and hey we all cope some how. Being a respectful person though if someone sent me a tell to shut up, then I would. Like George Carlin said, anything can be funny it's the context that makes it right or wrong.

Yeah you did the right thing. At least you didnt make a big deal of it by saying some shit and create a flame war between you and those "12 year old kids"

If you didnt like it. Just make a simple thing to make everything peacefull and no harm at all and that's what you did by leaving the PT.

I bet you they were Elvaan too. This doesn't go for all DRKs and DRGs. But most that I meet ARE 12 years old, and couldn't act properly w/ other people if somebody was holding a gun to the back of their head. I just hate how the dunes, and San d'Oria are going to be when the 360 version comes out. Xbox Live fanbois FTL. ; ;

I think, the appropriate steps would be along the lines of ...

(1) Please, stop with the sex jokes. This is offensive and there should be no place in this game for it without the full party's consent (Read the Agreement everyone accepted when first installing this game and before logging in)

(2) Also refrain from behavior that other players will find inappropriate.

Should the players insist on continuing their bad behavior (I find this with a few JP players as well) then you draw your line in the sand, make a stance and let the party know that you will either disband or leave the party. If the responsible players do not heed your warning and start to provoke you, then you can do what you must.

Should they continue to bother you outside of the party, at this time, I think it is the best policy to then contact a GM and let them handle the situation. At least, on your behalf and only mention the other victim (In this case, the SMN) if he/she consents to this (Makes your call and your "case" a legitimate one when you get in contact with a GM)

The only problem I see is that you were calming the smn down (which is good), but then decided to leave with him/her when they found a replacement.

Although you guys were obvious victim of harrassment, you have to admit that you wasted the nin's time.
