Well, you're looking only at a few items then. I've seen some items go up 200-300% in cost in this past week while others have dropped more than 50% ... does this fit into your "fluctuating signs?"

I'm in the same camp with Macht on this one and with Manatra on solutions to the problem. Kuu basically argued that making changes in the items worth or value (from normal to ex or rare/ex) made the economy worse. Yes, it did, but here's why ...

It's because they didn't make the change across the board on all NMs (They can and should exclude HNMs from this) There's another thread on this issue and a solution that was brought up by another player (I then took up that flag and am also pushing support for it) Basically, changing the dynamics and leaving "money" out of the picture can and should make things better for everyone.

Money is the root of all evil. I believe that was used in a poetic sense but can also translate into a more literal one ...

It hasn't really worked yet, as the counter arguement is that, greed drives people to be at their best, this in a pool of chaos comes efficiency. ex-both people of equal hagglers will haggle on a common price that will satisfy even if not what they wanted.

Ifyou get rid of money, because you assume people will "do the right thing" and fairly share/and distribute...well it's a nice thought. Otherwise you have what is known commonly as price gouging .

The idea of freely traded items/ ie gil, is that everyone will trade what they're good at, to what they're not.

i.e I can't camp VE for my life, so I farm bees, to make up for it

Now a little bit on topic, I guess no one realises how realistic "sky is falling senerio" is.

Here's how it works... and happens very often in real world:

SE Anouncement: "3 billion gil have been taking out of the market, prices are starting to drop"

Person A: (looks at AH) "OMG it's true, SH dropped a mil!"
Person B: "For real" [think] Hey I just brought a scorp for 20mil, I got jiped...wait, if I put it on the AH for 18 mil, and then buy it tomorrow, I just saved a ton of gil[/think]
*Put's SH on AH for 18mil*
Person C: [think] It's really going down, I can make money off of this, sell high, buy low[/think]
Person D repeats thoughts of person A,B,C

And that's how a rapid sale starts to happen. It really happens in RL, trust me. It goes on till someone eventually, realises they're not getting more money out of it.

The key to solving it is to change the game in such a way that "gil selling" can't affect the economy. Unfortunately this is easier said than done

correct Funny thing Is for a month I bc'ed and ENM'ed with static LS and alliance LS groups to buy a Hedgehog bomb. Soon as i Got the money needed to buy it and keep my own coffers full. Price skyrocketed 5 mil in 2 days. Now that my coffers are low 5 mil for crafting. Its back to normal 4mil price.

now to buy or not to buy....that is the question.

Right now, it's a buyer's market. If you have the gil, get what you're getting NOW. Because I don't think too many things will get much lower. So buy them before they go back up in price. Price fluctuations like this are going to be common-place in the coming months I think. Because as long as people are greedy, and will cheat and exploit to get gil. SE will have to keep deleting accounts and making new patches for exploits.

I laughed my fucking ass off when the dude next to me was crying about buying Igqira Weskit for 21Million Gil, that he couldve just waited till now to buy it, since it's down to 3~4mil like it used to be. Way to go, smartass.

Honestly, how many times do i have to tell people that buying gil is not benefitial to anyone other than your little obssession over a game that takes over your sense of reality and then kicks you in the face.

So i say... TOUGH LUCK.

Now.. for melon pies +1 to go back to normal <.< theyre out of whack at 90-100k per stack D:

nothing I've put up in the AH this week has sold, and I'm a broke lil Taru. I'm raising THF, cause TH1 means I'll finally be able to effing farm properly. I'm SO BROKE!!!

Actually, I don't think you've read that thread. In that thread, we proposed popping NMs, instead of waiting around for it. It then drops, at a high or 100% rate, ex or rare/ex items instead of rare/non-stamped items that sell for the ridiculous prices you see on the AH. This includes drops like Monster Signa, but also includes things like Speed Belt.

This then eliminates the gil from NM drops. This in turn affects gil buying in general. If you can't buy the gil, the you have to work for it. Simple solution, not something that is difficult to implement (Ex., Aerondight from Cancer in Kuftal Tunnel)

Right now, the situation is very uncertain. If we buy or sell we might be doing a good business or a bad business. We will have to take our own risks and time will prove us right or wrong!

You realize that price is all relative. The only insurance you can take out is the policy of never selling what you purchased or received/gained. Unless I know for a certain that I wouldn't be needing a certain item, I keep them on mules. That's how I safeguard against inflation/deflation. No matter what the economy is doing, it doesn't matter to me when I have the items ...

Im glad I have never relied on the AH to make a living even with bc drops. I pretty go after rare/ex items all the anywho.

It's not possible when you're a 60 melee, needing that Haubu or SH ... not with current conditions. However, let's just put this scenario in ... where you can get the VClaw as a drop -- rare/ex -- and then, let's pretend there's a quest for this -- you turn it into the NPC, which you can only perform this quest ONCE ... you get a non-ex(rare/ex) item in exchange. Sure, you can put this on the AH or go find yourself a crafter. The recipe can be modded so that SH can be made in two ways ... with the original vclaw, but it's a gamble ... or with this new item, which guarantees 100% success with the appropriate skill levels (also maybe if you also obtain a special GP item which allows you to synth with the new items)

You can tweak this idea or modify them to improve, but this should illustrate the flexibility of this system as well as the potential to deliver a crotch shot to RMT ...

There's that mentality of "need" these high end items again. This is what boosted prices in the first place.

Impatience at not trying to figure out an easier solution to a problem that may take a while (instead, everyone wants that gratifying 200+ exp per kill) Greed because some people here simply won't take anything less than 10K an hour exp rate. Saying things like, "You know, I had a party last night and we got 11k an hour. This party blows [because we're getting around 4k an hour] So **** you, I'm leaving this ****** party!

If you want to know how well an economy is doing you have to watch the price of gil in US dollars. During the worst of times the pirce of gil per million on Seraph was $6, and with bulk prices being $50/10mil from certain sellers. Now it ranges from $80 to $100 per ten million.

Fortunately the prices are dropping, unfortunately SE did nothing about most of the farmers on Seraph, so it's still very hard to obtain gil in areas that become crowded. The old farmers are now powerleveling new farmers, and the cycle will continue.
