  • Hard to keep focus

It's the inherent problem with all MMO type games, or offline games where more than 1 character class / race is available. Im finding it really difficult to focus time on one character, class, or race.

The quickest way to hit 75 is to start a character with a clear plan of attack, I know this, Im mostly a caster and Taru fan - yet I see a Mithra thief, or Elvaan ninja and it really makes me wish that I had started an alternate race to pour my time into.

I have a couple of mule-type characters, other races to start once I get to an appropriate point with my main, yet everytime I see another cool class / race combination, I log out and recreate a mule with that body / face type.

Ideally I want a caster type character, who will be a Taru, and a physical type character, who is probably going to be an Elvaan, but I cant seem to make up my mind about the physical class.

    Im sure Im probably not the only person with this problem (or I am and I need help) but does anyone have any advice for dealing with this? There are just too many choices, and they all look good ; ;

I also notice the face types that are rarely used and tend to focus more on those for my mule-types.

I seem to spend a lot of my time adjusting mule / backup characters, when I know I should be focusing more on levelling my main.

    Advice? Am I just crackers?

    This happens often...
I took Elvaan Male PLD to 70, and then realised that I wanted to be a Hume Male PLD.
I then restarted on a hume character, and took PLD to 75, just because I really liked the way they held their swords (also in dual-wielding.)

What I would recommend is using the Model Viewer and coming to a decision on what you find 'coolest' or whatever; that way you can settle down and proceed to level your character.

My ideal character from the start (appearance-wise) was a PLD/NIN in full PLD AF. And, later, dual-wielding swords in battle and wearing a Vermillion Cloak.
And since I've obtained this 'ideal', and had it for quite some time now, I've never regretted it

And I never got into playing a Tarutaru, because they're way too small... part of the MMORPG experience is being able to show off what you've gotten, and on a Tarutaru (from another race's perspective), you can barely see what gear they have on due to their inherent shortness...

Bottom line: set an 'ideal' for yourself.

Indeed - looking at similar decent EQ that I've had recently in parties (Promy gear / Traders & Barons gear) they look much more detailed on a taller character, than squashed on Azaru - but Taru's are just too damn cute for their own good.

I like the Elvaan models, the Humes, to me, look a bit too generic.

I've used the model viewer before to check out new character models, I think Im just about positive on which Elvaan head model to use, but the difference between what is viewed on the character creation screens, and the models during play can make the final result a bit misleading.

Will play with modelviewer more this evening, cheers Tsikuro.
