Well,the 360 crowd will learn quickly how to play correctly. FFXI is very unforgiving to those that only want to half heartly play. Unlike X-Box Live which seems to promote childish behavior,FFXI will and in due course,weed them out. ^^

My opinions are based upon me playing FFXI for 1.5 years, taking a 5 month break and played WoW and now back to FFXI.

I have played EQ, EQOA, FFXI and WoW. As much as i hate ot admit that FFXI has many many issues, it has something that draws you back. I dont know if its the story, if its the drama, if its the gill sellers... I honestly dont have a clue, but I got back a few weeks ago and I am loving the game. WoW is nice, but Atm, i want to focus on FFXI again.

After reading your comments, there are several things that really are true. One of them being that FFXI is mostly for a more mature players or more devoted players. FFXI is a time-demanding hog, you really need to spend alot of time on it. And that was one of the main reasons for me to quit in the 1st place, pluse the fact that I was the leader of an HNMLS. Now at my return, I simply chose to join an alaready establish HNMLS and my time is only focused on doing what i want, and I no longer worry if he gets this or what gets done.

If people are concerned about immature and childish players upcomming on the X360 release, well.... we will have to wait and see. Like many of you said it here, one they have to start paying it is going to be a different story, and once they see how complex this game can be they might realized that this game is not for them. Becuase, id have to agree, FFXI is different from the rest of the MMORPGS, and thank god it is, We are on a league of our own!

That is also true.... and it will be fun. But lets consider some things.

Do we know if the new jobs will be available to anyone, or will they de advances jobs?

Imagine having a pt full of noobs at the dunes, and we show up as a cool lvl 12 BLU/WHM or a nice COR/WAR or whatever.... lol that would be fun.

And... how many of the x360 users will really be new? I am tending to think that most or the vast mayority will be returning players, or players that will simply "upgrade" from a ps2 to an x360. But for that you dont need to restart your character I know. I am just curious..... FFXI has been out for a long time.... how many NEW people are going to play the game, when they could have picked it up for the ps2 years ago?

You mean PC/PS2 Beta ... I should know, I beta'd both the closed and open versions (Although the Open Beta was invitation only since you couldn't just pick up a beta CD from your local EB)

Because it was invitation only, the PC/PS2 Beta had a different set of players. Players that were, for the most part, familiar with MMO games (Everquest, CoA, DS and RO to name a few) In closed Beta, I remembered the invitation was tightly restricted to people that could understand Japanese and have experience with Beta testing or could at least furnish a report (I turned in my 40+ page report and not sure if any of it was read since I didn't see the changes that I wanted in the game ... lolorz)

This XBox Beta is different. It's a true definition of "open" Beta, so a 3 year old could play this and a 150 year old as well. In other words, you run the gamut from delinquents to college floozies to prostitutes to con artists playing this game. From mentally retarded to super IQs. Whatever. This explains the disparate levels of interaction in the Beta.

I don't think you should worry too much once retail rolls around. Maybe for the first month (since they get the first month for free) but most of the "try before buy" players will drop out after the 3rd month ...

I was around for PC release and there were plenty of retards then too. They will eventually weed out when they realize this game actually needs tactical thinking and time investment.

we had this same discussion a while ago when ps2 na came out. same thing happened, a lot of people came in, lots of people dropped after their first month. people that stayed are 1) really thick headed 2) really want to play the game. the latter will end up learning to play the game, more or less, correctly.

when pc na release came out, i was the same way. very curious and inexperienced. give 1 month for the veteran players/monthly fee to weed out all the knuckleheads.

Like someone mentioned previously in this thread; most annoying 11yr olds will be filtered out when their version of the game goes p2p. I've seen this happen in countless MMORPGs coming out of Beta.

And besides, if they aren't, they won't get anywhere on the retail servers.
People don't want to party with a WAR/WHM =P
