  • I'm afraid of the day FFXI X360 goes retail.

The population that is currently on the beta server is filled with stubburn, arrogant and i don't care type of players. I remember being a noob in this games. Heck, I'm still very much a noob compare to certain FFXIonline users but I've always listen to what other players have to say. I've documented myself to make sure I always understood what was expected me in PT.

Last nite, the combo whm/war or war/whm was everywhere. Did i miss something or since when those type of combo have become acceptable in a group situation ? Then we have the warrior at level 17 who refuse to provoke who don't even know what I am talking about. Was is like that at the PS2 launch ? the small percentage of veteran players makes it very hard to have any pleasant experience leveling a sub job pass level 10. I remember the Dunes has being hell but now it has become beyond ridiculous.

Im usely a nice guys. I like to help around. I think I had it last nite. Between incompetent warrior with useless sub job and arrogant players laughing at me (whm) because I died and cannot raise myself. I think i've seen it all. I know this is beta but I'm afraid the crop of player is worst then I had expected.

They're like middle school/junior high students, and we're high school students. ( If you see where I'm going with this.)

It will probably be different for them when they get on the retail servers.

From my experience with X-Box live playing mostly Halo and the racing game who's name escapes me at the moment this is the norm. X-box live patrons on the most part are immature a#$holes. I think the thing that will weed these folks out is the subscription fees for FFXI. Once you start paying for a service you tend to get more serious about using that service imho.

I think i'm going to start milking the noob. You want a raise ? It's 1000gil. You want to go to Norg ? 2000gil. You want to go from any city to Jeuno at level 20 ? It's 2000gil for the escort.

I know I could never do such a thing on a retail server but this ain't one. I dont' think they deserve my precious time unless they finance my scroll spell purchase.

Re: I'm afraid of the day FFXI X360 goes retail.

Everybody started somewhere, a similar experience happens over at City of Heroes whenever a free trial code goes live in a PC Magazine, we get the usual asshat newbie players who only play levels 1-10 / 1-20, then leave once they see they have to put a bit more work into the game.

Hopefully it will be the same with 360 players, most asshats will pick it up, cry that the graphics and lack of pt invites 'suxxors' then leave never to return.

XBox users that I know are predominantly XBox only players, with the Final Fantasy series on mostly Nintendo / Playstation consoles, they have preset ideas that the game is childish and deserves very little attention.

Once it is out of beta for a couple of months hopefully only the better players who see that they game has a very rewarding curve to it will stay, and the asshats will move onto whatever is more popular on XBLive.

just to add to what everyone has already said, keep in mind the beta is free for anyone (with a xbox360). you will get all kinds of "characters" when F R E E stuff is being offered. Usually (hopefully) this all changes once people start having to pay for things

Dont get your hopes up too much, same thing happend when PS2 release for NA came out. The stupidity level raised dramatically, many of those people have dwindled away, mostly going to WoW, but some have also remained.

But when ps2 was releaced ffxi was still new, now its like 3 years old, and unless they wanted it but couldent play it cause it was on another platform i dont think there will be alot of pepole that would choose it over call of duty 2 or some other game.

I'm no noob when it comes to XI, but I have to say that I had to quit playing the beta. There was just too much stupid stuff going on. Once the retail version is released I will be back on my regular server playing my original character again.

Like others have said, once you have to start paying that monthly fee you get a different kind of player out there. I think the problem will resolve itself once the retail version hits the shelves.

sounds so much different from PC beta. hopefully most of those kids won't be playing retail.

Most of these people will leave because:
                          1) You have to pay.
                          2) It takes longer to progress.
                          3) It isn't a shooting/racer game (this IS Xbox we are talking about).

Fortunately for me, by that time all my jobs should be 40+ (or I just have BST remaining which solos anyway). Of course we have the 2+ new jobs coming out...

Re: I'm afraid of the day FFXI X360 goes retail.

I was in Gamestop and the worker there said he was thinking of DRK/BLM. I just sighed, and was trying to be nice by saying that DRK already have magic, and they attack, so subbing Warrior would be better. But he just . . . didnt grasp it.

FFXI is a hard game to grasp for ppl used to other games. For all intents and purposes, this guy was pretty smart, I was talking to him about a wide variety of games. But it's obvious who plays games like EQ and WoW between those that play FFXI.

I, for one, expect a certain calibur of gaming from my online experience, and I feel that WoW and EQ and games of the like can't deliver it. A WHM I befriended last month in the dunes is now in his mid 30s, but was talking to me saying he might delete his character. He claimed that he was "bored and couldnt fight anybody" =/

Many ppl arent used to the way things work in FFXI. I'm so effing glad that there is no open PvP, because I was a noob for like 65 levels, and could have been ass-raped by any bored-ass HL. Imagine how retarded leveling would be if every few experience, some HL could come by and nuke you from far away, without you knowing what hit you. Or if mob drops were free for anyone walking by.

Oh. . . there are games like this, and the general community friggin Sucks. No one plays RO anymore unless it's to meet up with old friend. Diablo is a cesspool for hacks and cheats. WoW is a greatly unbalanced game. FFXI is none of these, and for a good reason. If the game isnt enjoyable for new comers, it's not their cup of tea, and there is nothing we can do about that.

Im a noob to this gamer, tho i have spent a lot of time learning class roles gear etc. but i dont think will get the racest 12 year olds from halo cuz they most likly have add and cant play a game where it can take days just to lvl.

                              Double Post Edited:
The main reason i quit WoW was becuase people only cared about them selfs and there drops and would gladly dump the group if things did not go their way, im only lvl 10 but it seems like this game is very dif from that sorts of thing.
