Is it ok if you never get sea access? I dont see anything great about it besides Limbus and those rare/ex drops there.

Re: Sea access a necessity?
If nothing else, do it for the story. Also, the rings at the end you get just for beating CoP are great. You get to pick one, and being BLM, the ring you'd want to get, Tamas Ring, gives MP+15~30, INT+2~5, MND+2~5 Enmity-3.
Explanation of the #~#:
At level 30 you'd have MP+15, INT+2, MND+2, Enmity-3
At level 75 you'd have MP+30, INT+5, MND+5, Enmity-3
Levels in between would have different amounts respectively.

Re: Sea access a necessity?
Depends on your endgame activities. If your thinking of joining a HNM, then thats a question for them. Some want their members to have sea access as it leads to better equips which better the performance of ls.
But if you don't want to go for sea, at least finish the Promys. In the high lvls you exp there and there are some NM's you hunt.Originally posted by FebaBut I mean I do not mind a good looking man so long as I do not have to view his penis.Originally posted by TaskmageGod I hate my periods. Re: Sea access a necessity?
I feel sad when people ask this question... whatever happened to the adventures and meaningfull goals to achieve, whatever happened to fun, it just took off one day without warning?

Re: Sea access a necessity?
I feel the same way. Kinda why I left for a little bit. I came back though for my experience.
Seemed to me that way too many people were getting caught up in the gil race. I know, 1337 equipz, potionz, blahz, blahz, blahz. I did it for awhile, i know what it costs. I also know the heartache of funding a run, or 4, and getting nothing in return.
I'm done with the gilz running. My game now is all about how much better I can be than others, and finishing the Story. I can't remember ever playing a game where I did'nt beat the final boss, but ran around collecting stuff instead. I'm not turning FFXI into another Harvest Moon.

SE did a good job with the storyline though. No other MMO I've played to date has even attempted to come close.

Re: Sea access a necessity?
Two things...
One...Sea is worth getting just to see this very unique and beautiful area. If nothing else just to explore and get away now and then, into an area that SE really put some creativity into.
Two... Im sorry, if you are in CoP for the story, I was disappointed with some of the plot holes leading up to Sea. After that the story seems to pick up again, but before that, it seems SE was just throwing shit in there to keep people busy.
Snoll Tzar... what the... fuck.. was the point of this... seriously.
What about the random NMs you have fight when gathering up the NPCs from around the world. No explanation of why they are there or the point of fighting them.
Riverne is never full explained or even mentioned that much after you are finished with it. No reason is really given about why there are floating fragmented chucks of the coast up there.
The Tenzen subplot comes out of nowhere, no fore warning of this what so ever. If there had been some indication of this sooner, I wouldnt have thought SE just wanted to add one more pain in the ass obstacle to the plot.
The cutscenes in CoP, however, are really enjoyable. The dialogue is good, and the scenery is spectacular. The characters too are interesting and believable in whatever plot lines they are involved in.

Re: Sea access a necessity?
Once you start working on CoP into chapter 2 or 3, believe me its story will keep pulling you back to it. It is a pain to get it done and I'm only on chapter 5 myself after 4 years playing this game lol (8 chapters total.) It's not important at all but it's one of those thing you really want to get done just the cool factor of it.
You probably won't be starting it anytime soon tho. I suggest you wait until you have couple jobs above 30, and just keep an eye out for shouts and join those shouts when you can.
This works fine for the first chapter or two. After chapter 2 you might want to find a static CoP team. I have a static CoP team right now and it saved me a lot of hassle joining shouts for later chapters. There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,

Re: Sea access a necessity?
Beating the tougher CoP missions actually feels rewarding. Frankly, I don't understand why people hate the level-capped missions so much. Your success depends largely on strategy rather than what equipment you use, so you can just use the armor storer to hold some NQ equipment. I'm sorry, but the ZMs sucked largely because I always had a couple 70+s helping me with them.
As for the Tenzen subplot...I assume you're talking about his betrayal. While I haven't gotten that far yet, I've alredy noticed him getting a little pissed about the whole thing. Specifically with Phoenix.
