For the love of God, if you play the AH game of listing high ticket items for low prices to get a tax cut, don't go whining to the purchaser when they win.

Listing a 4m item for 400k is a mistake. Listing a 4m item for between 500k and 1m is trying to get a tax break. You played the game. You were beat. You lost. Suck it up and move on.

Especially don't tell the purchaser that you would like the item back because you are poor and want to re-list at a proper price to make more money. That just seems... wrong... to me.

What is it they teach in economy? Buy beware? I guess it works both ways.

you cry, i laugh. i think its awesome that some beat a seller at their own game. you play, you pay. besides, why shouldn't someone else have a expensive item. with the economy as jacked up as it is, even if a person farmed for 2 weeks they'd be hard pressed to still afford a nice piece like a vermy or a hauby. if a person wants X for an item, put it up for X or a few 100k less to expedite the sale the sale of the item. but if they put a 20m item up for 250k, just to beat AH tax, not only are they playing a risky game, but they are hurting the game by abusing the AH tax system, or cheating might be a better word.

And yes, I got a good deal. When I started saving for Penatants Rope, they were 1mil. By the time I had 500k they were 2mil. I get 1 mil they were 4mil. While I save for high ticket items I always check for deals. Got the rope (4.5mil - 4.7mil at the time) for a whopping 1mil.

The result? 2 hours of talking to GMs to get the whining person to stop having friends /tell me and threaten me. I made some people's search comments as well. Was really annoying.

Which, btw, is another rant all together... Threatening people... over a game... does nothing but show people just how much of an immature spoiled brat you are.

It's one thing if a 4.5 mil item is sold for 450k... or 45k... Lag much? I'll buy that. I can be receptive to the -possibility- of a return. But I tried to buy for 500k... and no sale. 1mil... got the item. Doesn't look like a "mistake" to me. Hense, enduring the whining.

By the time I started getting /tells from random people on behalf of the seller, and my -party memebers- did too, it just became a matter of principal.

What was his actual excuse for mis-setting the price? Thought it was something else? Just typed in the wrong price? Didn't check the most recent AH history? I might have thought about it, up until the point where he gets friends to whine and bitch. After that? F*** him. You didn't want to lose money, but you wanted to sell quickly and with less taxes, then only set for a lower price, where you don't mind potentially losing the difference. I take my time in this game (been playing for just short of two years and only lvl 50). I try underbidding on virtually everything, even cheap materials for crafting. As messed up as our economy can be, I'll do my part to not overbid and contribute to it. (As well as trying to undercut on selling little by little, though it seems few people do what I do and just bid for whatever the last sell was)

sevenpointflaw, all I can say is ... "Congratulations!" ^^

Yes, I agree. Cheating the tax system is lame. Got no money to put it up in the first place? Have those people ever tried bazaaring first? God, they're all lame - alllll laaaaaame. >.<

I cry when I see someone get a high priced item for really cheap because it wasn't me! I never have any luck when I randomly bid low on high priced items.

Best I've done is get Emp pin for 1m when it was going up from 1.5m.
Other than that, saw someone shouting to sell Errant Houp. for 1m when going rate was 1.5m. I underbid a lot, just at random and can never get anything.

Yeah, if you put a 4.5-4.7mil item up at the AH for 1mil, you're trying to "cheat" the system. If somebody catches you with your pants down, just grin and bear it. It asks you several times if you want to sell it, and if you want to sell it for that price. I've almost over bid on an item by 100k, but when it asks me if I'm sure, I saw that I was over bidding. This wasn't a mistake, so too bad for them, Congrats for you.

What was the final conclusion? Did you keep the item? Was the GM able to help you with these "threats"?

You better have kept the item. Don't let that loser get his item back for being a cheapskate.

That's pretty dumb. I feel no sympathy for people like that. Screw em, if they don't wanna pay the tax then they run the risk of someone bidding low and buying their item.
