  • Community Project - - Final Fantasy IX: The Adventurer's Bible.

    Herro ;o.

This is the official thread of the FFXI:TAB online project.

    What is FFXI:TAB?

Final Fantasy XI: The Adventurer's Bible. A bible is not only a religous book, but a book that teaches one all about their trade. This is going to be a strategy guide for FFXI. It won't be set up like normal guides, not as straight forward.

    How can I help?

We'd like (smart) people to contribute to the guide by posting information here. Aside from that, we need to build a staff. We need people to help me design the pages, actually make the pages(on Quark), and finally decide what goes where. I'll personally probably be doing all these(well my access to Quark and my experience is low).

    What won't this guide have?

    Spoilers.

    Why do this?

Because making a huge, printable guide is rad chumps.

    ----

    Sections of this guide:

    0. Copyright Crap.

    I. Introduction of Vana'diel. [This chapter first describes the guide. Then it will describe terms and information(manners, RMT, ect) about the game and people of the game. Then it will discuss Races and Jobs. Finally, partys and alliances].

II. Skills of Vana'diel. [This goes over all the stats from STR to Acc to hMP to Thunder Magic Profiency. This chapter will then describe Merit Points and how skills, armor bonuses, and the such effect you. Also includes would be Mogenhancements]

III. World of Vana'diel. [This will go into each and every area, listed by order of appearence, name the monsters and NMs that roam there. Also give good maps and such. For quality, also give a short history to it. Simple, yet detailed chapter]

IV. Story of Vana'diel. [This is the most important part of the guide. This will go through the life of an adventurer of the game, split into level ranges(1-10, 11-20, 21-30... 71-75). It will list off things to do as the reader progresses in level. NMs they could camp, Garrison, awhole lot of crap, and at 71-75, describe the end-game in the truthful way(talking about the downsides of joinning a HNM LS... one that camps kings everyday that is). Nothing will be described too perfectly, just like a giant list of things to do].

    V. Items of Vana'diel. [Describes what medicines and foods do. Then a big list of items]

VI. Foes of Vana'diel. [Describes the ways NMs pop and the strategies for the stranger ones. Then describes monster types. Finally, a list of monsters and their levels]

VII. People of Vana'diel. [Quests, NPCs, and Missions listed like above, most not listed in IV, are described shortly]

VIII. Groups of Vana'diel. [A section devoted to Linkshells. How to make them, help them, ect. All types of Linkshells... you get the point]

IX. Trades of Vana'diel. [A chapter listing all the types of crafting. Also including stuff like Chocobo Digging, Gardening, and Mining(and the such). It will list the items needed to pass and various recipes that are suggested to use as the reader skills up]

    X. Guides of Vana'diel. [Credits...Yada yada]

XI. Tools of Vana'diel. [A list of websites from forums to information sites].

This book is aimed at being under 600 pages and more than 400 pages. Every item and recipe isn't meant to be listed.

Insane project indeed. Will take longer than ToUA to come out, so we won't finish it til we know about that to say the least.

Please do not spam this topic with "I'ma level 23 DRG and I'd like to give suggestions to DRGs, but I don't know a lot". I want people who can write guides and thats what I expect. Before we bother with jobs, I want Chapter 2's information on stats to be solid. Than we'll work on jobs and such from there. (So don't zerg me with that crap please).

Anyway, I'll list staff when this thing gets going. We also will probably need some kind of website/server to hold crap.

    Thanks for your time ;o.

This is what I was thinking also. I think it'll be better for you to assign like 2-3 member to work on a section.

I would love to help out with the WHM portion of this in any way possible, and am willing to help with any myth busting test (Conserve MP saves more MP than Auto-Refresh gains... No! Auto-Refresh regens more MP than Conserve MP save... Clear Mind really is stackable with /SMN... INT is useless for WHM... etc., etc.)

In particular I'd like to offer up the more advanced stuff for WHM in terms of tacticts for main healing with PLD v. NIN v. WAR and why it -theoreticly- shouldn't matter if one is better than the other (Just different... adapt).

So yeah. Love mythbusting. Love the tank issue. Anything can do to help. WHM

I'd like to be in too- I'm not so knowledgable on the stats, damage formulae, magic formulae etc.. But a few people on the forums are (especially wishmaster3k who hangs around the RDM forum). Anyway- I can help with RDM soloing strategies, or any general filler stuff (such as monster locations, descriptions of zones, stuff like that)

                    PM me or whatever xD

Okay, guys... before we really set this up, I'd like to do something on the way.

I want to create a Vana'diel History wiki without spoilers. Likely everything on it will appear in this guide. I'll see if we can have it apear in FFXIpedia.

Just curious why this thread is called "Final Fantasy IX: The Adventurer's Bible" and not "Final Fantasy XI: The Adventurer's Bible." At the top of this thread, it says XI, but if you look in this forum's directory, then it says IX. Just thought you might wanna fix that.
