The revolution is going to have 512MB of internal flash memory. Pleny for saved games and some roms, not enough to install a game like FFXI on.

That's too bad... it'd be neat if they had more room, but oh well. I'll be sticking to PC anyway

where did you hear this, because they said HD, not flash memory, big diffrance
unless they changed their wording since I last read up on it...and I am sorry but 512 is not enuff if they are going to alow N64 games to be downloaded

Actually it looks like I was mistaken about the internal memory, its 512MB flash cards. From all the specs I've see I haven't seen anything that suggests that the revolution could contain a hard drive. Where are you getting that?

As for the N63 roms there's several ways they could be handled. They could be downloaded each time the game is played, they could be compress to just a few MB using something like 7z compression which offers incredibly high compression rations on N64 roms.

I'm all for the FFXI on the PS3. I'm starting to lean towards not wanting FFXI to come out on the 360. I just don't like much of the Xbox fanbase that's out there. I've stopped using my microphone when I play First person shooters online. Hearing, "OMG YOU NIGGER!" and "NIGGA WHAT? JIGGA WHO?" from small, white 13 year old boys is starting to really piss me off. I think that if SE does bring aboard some of Xbox's fanbase, then San'doria is really screwed. Remember at the launch when everyone was /shouting for help, and begging for gil? >_<

I don't think you'll have much of a choice in the matter... like it or not, the game will be out on X-Box 360. But look at it this way: all the people you'd rather not have in the game will probably quit within a few weeks because there isn't enough shooting or it's too difficult for them.

To be honest, you'll get the same fanbase on every console... PlayStation, X-Box, PC, whatever... it doesn't matter, they're there playing. I remember when FFXI was released on PS2, day two of release the dumbest names started popping up. Then, less than a month later I never saw them again. Not that I'm complaining... I could do without partying with "Rickjamesbitch".

Point is, in a game like FFXI, only the dedicated fans will stick with it, whereas the less desireable players will run off to the next shooter-of-the-month.

I've only ever heard of 512mb of flash memory to be included with the revolution. Nothing about a hard drive. Makes sense given its small size and relatively low cost (target).

I don't think you'll have much of a choice in the matter... like it or not, the game will be out on X-Box 360. But look at it this way: all the people you'd rather not have in the game will probably quit within a few weeks because there isn't enough shooting or it's too difficult for them.

True, but you also get the players that just suck so bad, and don't even realize it. The RDMs that won't enfeeble or refresh, just sit there and nuke the hell out of something. Then they'll convert, and start nuking some more! And yes, it's getting fairly common to see really bad players at 75. I remember partying with a RDM/BLM the other week. He was 75, Rank 10, and had 15 or so merits. When I finally go and check him, he's wearing Mahatma Pigaches, Mahatma Slops, Scorpion Harness +1, Mahatma Cuffs, had a Pluto's Staff (he also had the other 7 HQ staves) and nothing else! We get to sky, and immediatley he begins meleeing with an enhancing sword. He didn't refresh, debuff, or nuke. He said he wanted to fight like a "real" Red Mage. He thought hitting for 10-20 DMG was fairly good, and considering we were XPing on weapons, it quite frankly, wasn't! There was also the PLD/THF who used a greatsword and wouldn't tank. He was "tired of being the mob's bitch" so he wanted to be a DD. Some players just don't know they suck, and will keep on playing until they're alienated on every god forsaken FFXI forum there is. And sometimes, they won't leave after that.

Haha, yeah. I guess there are some people that there's just no hope for. But hey, at least you know: if they're already playing then the X-Box release shouldn't bring any new surprises... and you'll get a good six months + before they're high enough level to get to you

Audio: At least Dolby 5.1, but rumored 7.1

Storage: SD, 512MB Flash RAM

DVD Media Format: DVD

These specs were what was available at the beginning of November. I haven't heard of any other specs being released or anything changed since then but if someone has please post them. Zaptruder, the PS3 has been so secreative that no one knows much about it period. All we got it some simplistic specs on it and if you spend the effort and time you can find a little more detail about it. The CBE processor Sony would not even reveal info about it and if it wasn't for IBM promoting more "middleware" use for the CBE, and releasing the 1,000 pages of info on it everyone would still be in the dark on it as well too (For the most part still are in the dark in it, but in everything the CBE has shown it seems to be incredibly powerful).

No one even knows what the going price for the PS3 will be most speculation guesses $299 up to $699 for a price with a more consensus of being $399 or $499. Much of this is almost a same repeat of what they did with the PSP, no one knew what it's price was or much about it till like a month before it's release.

The PS3 does have a DevStation conference to be held on March 1st and 2nd which is focused entirely on the PS3 project, which is suspected were they will announce the price as well as what the product will have sold with it and what is sold seperatly. Much of this being speculated that they'll announce this because it's time frame falls in very similar to a length of time before the PSP was released if it's release date is on May 1st, 2006.

Yes they may be holding it in as a surprise or still deciding what they are going to do. There is still plenty of time for that. But since the price point for the system looks to be quite low, compared to the other next gens, I have my doubts if one will be included. They just may go the route of the 360 and offer an optional drive. I think that the optional drive route is the smartest for them since the system does really appeal to a younger crowd who wouldn't be as interested in one, but only time will tell.

But since the price point for the system looks to be quite low, compared to the other next gens, I have my doubts if one will be included. Thing I know well in conversation on Socom III with many of the general gamers, they'll be completly gunho at getting a HDD if more games that are their intrest were to use the HDD. There's a huge chunk of Socom III players that bought a HDD just simply because they thought Socom III was going to provide a better setup for the HDD use then they actually did.

4gb memsticks will be in the region of... 800 bucks when it comes out. Yeah... its kinda only for the foolishly rich and professionals (e.g. photographers).
That said, the PS3 will also support the other popular flash memory types include SD and USB flash drives.

4GB flash memory already exists in an iPod nano. It's a little larger, but it's still tiny.
