  • Essentially new player w/ some questions.

Hi everyone. Over a year ago, I bought the game and was able to play for about 2 days. I then had a bad car accident that kept me in the hospital for a very long time. Anyway, I found my game today in the bottom of my closet and was wondering a few things.

First, I read about alot of gil problems and gear issues with this game. Is it really that bad?

Also, I was really wanting to be either a red mage or a samurai. Red mages, from what I understand, do not have difficulty getting party invites. But when I started this game, I heard alot about how samurais sometimes waited days before getting parties. Does that still hold true?

Finally, if anyone out there is looking for an honest, fun-loving player for their linkshell and wouldn't mind mentoring me...well, I'm looking for a home.

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about your accident.

There IS rampant inflation and the prices are going up crazily...however, it doesn't really impede your ability to play much. Buying things gets more expensive, but selling leaves you more. There ARE some high-end items that are going up disproportionally right now, but by the time you need them you'll probably have a solid plan for making money. It'll still take time, but getting these items has never been easy. If you know what you're doing you can rack up lots of gil simply starting out. Be sure you always have signet, target easy mobs constantly, always eat food, target bats/bees/goblins/yagudo/orcs/crawlers/sheep, and sell at the AH. Seeking for parties is part of the game, and there's no avoiding it. Every melee will have to seek parties. SAM is no different, and generally isn't any worse off than other DDs. Even so, I'm sure you'll find that the wait is usually bearable, and if you really like being SAM, you won't let it stop you. Just don't get terribly fixated on partying nonstop, or you'll get frustrated while you wait.

rdm will get party easily after lv 41 due to refresh spell which is needed in any pt.
sam will get much harder to get pt compare with rdm.
even sam will get lesser party compare with some other melee as they are not really popular with most people pt as the best dd.
