Lol, it reminds me of the video Bungie put out before they released Halo 2. The one where he sprints, uses triple bursts, and a couple other very nasty maneuvers that never made it to the real game. Now, I still ended up buying the game, but myself and many others were extremely pissed when you have this supposed ingame video of everything they were going to put in. Then you get the game and over half of it isn't there. Ofcourse these are the same jackasses who say they won't give a release date unless they are sure they can make it. Then they give a release date and a month later they bump it back 6 months.

That video you mentioned was probally from a alpha stage of the game. Alpha, beta, and final versions are way different than each other.

Re: Why wont S-E just tell us the new jobs

          Greetings all,

This is my first post, so I'll introduce myself a bit. I'm a second-time college student going for a bachelors of science in Game Design and Development. I'm halfway through said classes and have already managed to luck up and get a job at a soon-to-open develepment house. I hope that introduces and qualifies my statements well enough.

In any case, the most likely reason they are not announcing the other jobs just yet is because, as one person said, they are not decided fully. They probably know which jobs will be included, but they are likely still working out what those jobs can do, and still pumping out art and animations for those jobs.

Also, as someone else said, I agree that the Treasures expansion will likely be released at the same time as the Xbox 360 version of the game, which will likely sell for $50 and include the expansion. I say this because the trailers for the expansion and the Xbox 360 version include a lot of the same footage.

          I hope this helps.

I dunno about these new jobs though, it seems every time a mmorpg gets an expansion with new classes and new races it screws everything up. Besides everyone has lasted this long, so i believe i bit longer wont kill anyone.....

                Fishy

                There once was fish,

                Whom made a perfect dish

                To a giant fish.

                The giant fish was caught,

                By a Mithra which sought

                To fill her hunger.

                The Mithra was slayed,

By a monster whom would raid

                The land.

                What have we learned?

Re: Why wont S-E just tell us the new jobs

You know, the challenge with creating new job classes is that you still want balance and the ability for players to still be able to experience the current world without destroying it.

With that said, I wouldn't be in the least surprised if SE did release 12 new job classes, but that these job classes cannot exist in the current world. Rather, this may be FFXI 2.0, in which you can go into the next area "Stage Clear" IFF you finish everything in the current world ...

... more than likely, you'll also have to start from scratch, to keep balance and opportunities available to all and not just the l33t few ...

uummm that would just be FFXI-2 then -.- would be a diffrent MMO and would 99% not happen, as for everyone else......

the expansion will be playable at the next convention later in 2006, so I am sure that the expoansion is at least 90% compleate and all the job classes have been made and are currently being tested. SE never does a "quick job" so they cant finishing things on the fly like that -.- and as for as how many new classes...I would guess three since that is how many where added in RoZ and would make the total an even 18.

To be honest, there's really no room for additional jobs (Maybe ONE more strictly tanking job, none of this *is* a DD crap job converted to a tank using exploitations of some gil-burning spell *coughutsusemicough*) especially with the current setup. First of all, just where is this new job going to fit in the whole scheme of things? Secondly, weapons and armor. Thirdly, additional monsters in the existing zones (because, let's face it, you still need to level your jobs in the traditional nub areas)

You also have to deal with either weakening or strengthening existing job classes. Some classes need a nerf like a naughty brat gone bad. Others need vitality, like Viagra. So it's not a simple matter of "let's create job XXXX and just stick it in the game." If you feel that it is this simple, than I feel sorry for you. Really, I would.

I highly doubt the expansion is anywhere near done. I remember when they had a target for CoP and it moved no less than three times and got delayed about 4 months behind schedule. I'm willing to bet this will happen again and won't see the expansion until either fall or even winter 2006 ...

I'm willing to bet that in addition to changes for job classes and expansion of crafting and items, there will be additional nerfage to money making activities to further cut into RMT transactions. Not sure if additional items are being condemned to the rare/ex treatment, but I'm willing to bet that when it does, expect inflation to start aphyxiating many intermediate players and probably spell the doom for all the new ones ...

So many people on here doubting SE 1- they have pushed certain realse dates back but not as bad as most dev teams. 2- They where able to balance out the new jobs from RoZ, so why do you not think they will be able to balance these jobs out?

for one read my post again, I never said it was easy to do anything -.- I know its hard, and like SevIfrit said, they where able to balance the RoZ jobs, so what makes you think they cant balance the new ones? They have also said that the new jobs will play diffrent from exsisting job, so the new jobs will be in a leage of their own, and they aready said that they will use the exsisting armor and weapons for the new jobs as well.

...RoZ jobs balanced? Maybe, but it took years after the expansion was released for it to happen.

Edit: Introducing overpowered classes with an expansion and then nerfing them after a few months is standard MMO tactics. Get ready for 7k+ an hour exp with your GEO BLU PIR trio.

LOL, that sounded so sinister, but he's right. We can jerk this topic all we want and not get anywhere.

Think of it as a Christmas Gift, it's sitting there all wrapped up. Are you the kind of person that'll peek under the paper? Would you unwrap the gift early only to try and rewrap it and hide what you know? Of course you can't do that, the moment most people find out, they won't be able to shut their mouths and they'll spill their beans to the entire community.

Let's all just wait(like we have a choice), and enjoy the excitement of release together.
