RoZ jobs were never really balanced when they were first released. Before, one could buy all the ninja tools from an NPC and then SE removed this and made it available through crafting only. Dragoons were never really balanced and they have been jerked through the extremes before the most recent patch. Samurais are now being accused as being the next Ranger job class and already several calls are being made to nerf them.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_F..._of_the_Zilart

Also, when the job classes are being expanded like this, you start to slowly lose the balance you had in place with the original job classes. Then you start to lose the focus and the objectivity of each job class. Most people don't realize that it's not only the new job classes that need to be balanced, but what happens when you sub those jobs to a current job class of level 75? How much more powerful or weaker does the job class become? Will that affect the way NMs are now being fought? Will it create new exploitation in BC fights or even during normal exp hunting? How will the new job abilities affect the way this game is being played? There are many more issues.

Again, adding even one new job class will totally change the game. That is why I stated, I for one do not believe there should be additional job classes, but instead a brand new FFXI with those new and different job classes. Like an alternate world or something.

First of all, just where is this new job going to fit in the whole scheme of things? Secondly, weapons and armor. Thirdly, additional monsters in the existing zones (because, let's face it, you still need to level your jobs in the traditional nub areas)
As far as weapons and armor go that can be changed easily enough. Pld used to be able to use 1h axe. War used tohave a B rating in h2h. Katana and Gkt didnt used to exist. Also, i could be wrong on this one, but when i first started(pre NA version that is) i dont remember scythes being on the AH.

I know I'll be taking BLU to 75. I'll have to see what other jobs they reveal though before it's definate.

yeah. you and everyone else on the server go level blu or the new jobs. im going to level something that doesnt get invites too often. like my thief. or my drk. or my samurai.... or another normal job.

the new jobs youll probobly have to be
            1. far eneough into cop missions
            and/or
            2. far in the Treasures of thigny.
AND probobly a level requirement. Im hoping for a level 75 level requirement to stop noobs leveling the jobs. Level 50 at least.

Needless to say i shall not be leveling any of the new jobs until people stop trying to level with them. More people leveling the new jobs means more invites for my older jobs

you dont need cop to run toau, and making new jobs only accessible like youre stating makes as much sense as the inside of a monkeys ass, who speaks fluent spanish and works as a tap dancer.

who says your gonna need cop to access all the jobs. for all you and i know you need access to sea to be able to unlock blue. think outside the box. just because they come with the new expansion doesnt mean you exclusively need the new expansion to unlock the new jobs.

Smn doesnt require travelling to any of the zilart areas is my understanding. but you still need zilart to unlock it. Why cant blu be in a cop area and you need the new expansion to unlock it.

Also i never said you needed COP installed to play Treasures.

Re: Why wont S-E just tell us the new jobs

SMN doesn't require traveling to Zilart areas - if you don't plan on getting avatars other than Carbuncle and Shiva. (And Diabolos with CoP.) You can imagine how popular this will make you.

SE tries hard not to make expansions dependent on each other. Although the CoP storyline is related to the RoZ storyline, you can progress in either without needing the other.

I really doubt that they will deviate from the pattern that advanced jobs require level 30 and the expansion they come in and that's it. There's no good reason to - 30 is high enough that there is no excuse for not knowing basic gameplay at that level, but not so high that it's an unreasonable barrier to new players. Old expansions have enough incentives of their own to get people to progress in their storylines and unlock their content.

Now, you might see some quest fights that are difficult at 30, like the ones for nin and drg; but actually I wouldn't be surprised if TAU job quests have difficult 30 *cap* fights. Because of the proliferation of 75s, SE is looking more carefully at how to not let them breeze through new content in a week after it's released - some say they overdid it, but nobody can deny that CoP is no cakewalk regardless of what your level is, compared to how a few 75s can blow through most ZMs.

Probably one of the new jobs will be unveiled (and playable?) at the convention they just announced in CA. The previous unveiled job was unveiled at TGS, so it would make sense to unveil the next at another similar event.

uumm to get DRG NIN and SAM you have to have RoZ and SMN was in the original FFXI but you only had carby and none of the other summons, I think it would be a good idea to make BLU and any of the other new jobs harder to get, wether it be job at 60 or completeing some of the missions, and to clear it up...you do have to have RoZ to install CoP, and you will need RoZ and CoP to isntall the next one :p

This it true, however the SMN job data is on the RoZ discs. One doesnt haev to travel to RoZ areas, but you need the disc to access RoZ jobs.

::Looks at Kabuki, the starter of this thread::

I'm...I'm sorry you had to have seen this.

Will this happen with every (if there will be anymore) expansion that is gonna come out? I mean, the whole "My opinion > Your opinion" frame of mind entertains me.

I agree with a lot of ppl here when I say I'd rather wait to know what the jobs are. There are alot of misguided souls on FFXI that are ALREADY lvln jobs to use as a sub for BLU based off of how BLU was played on previous FF games. Who is to say that BLU will play exactly like WE remember it? We wont know until the expansion comes out, and personally, I would like to keep it that way as far as the other jobs are concerned.

Very true...in my earlier Noob days (yes, I still consider myself a noob), I've finished the first promys and visited Taz. Safehold before I even know what a ZM was. So, yeah...

It seems that Blue Mage is the only one they are commited to releasing, if they have anything else it may not have been approved, or perhaps they are holding it back for an update or another expansion.
Learning > Intelligence > Experience. Weak minds are subject to experience before realization. Inteligent minds understand quickly with minimal experience. Learned minds excersise knowledge gained from study, and do not require experience to reach realization. Which is your claim?

In one developer interview, they made reference to having up to three jobs; in a later interview they made references to working out whether two jobs would be combined into one, or whether or not BLU would be the only new job. So we may just see BLU, but we may see two others as well (though the tone seemed to hint strongly - at least to me - towards two new jobs total).

Still, BLU is the one i'm looking forward too. I just like the idea of a red-haired fire breathing tarutaru!
