yeahh ffxi graphics are a lot better.. unless you like cartoony looking people. the female NE and humans are alright, but everyone is quite the ugly. ffxi only has the elvaan giraffes ;p. wow is really colorful though i guess? x].

WoW dreadmist armor was pretty cool and the glowing weapons x].

I actually played WoW for a tiny bit got to lvl 10, but i could stand the graphics, even if i was purple -.- . but i just thought that the wa the game worked was a bit...... iffy, but i mean at least ALL he quests werent collect _# of blah blah. And found it rather odd that a night elf warrior would simply dance if i said to...>.>

To be fair, WoW does have some beautiful scenaries.

The character models? Not so much, like many have said. Although in WoW, you're assumed to be a little further away from your character than in FFXI, so that affected design decision a bit.

If FFXI can have graphic engine upgrade, it'd be perfect for me.

i loved the quest system in wow though.

if they took the quest system from wow and added it to ffxi, so you could solo for some exp by grinding out quests, then i think this game would be perfect (minus the economic issues)

wow's quests may have been mundane, but it was still an interesting way to exp solo, imo

I think they way those quests actually lead players to area suitable for their level is a cool idea. It helps you explore and exp at the same time. FFXI you kinda have to keep exploration and exp seperate.

Well theres already quests that did give you exp like Eco-Warrior or some Garrisons. However they werent easy to do. If FFXI seperated quests from maybe..i ono Fame and really really hard ones for Exp, it might not be so bad. Hard doesnt have to mean impossible though, but preferably party oriented and you have to have some degree of skill to finish.

party-oriented quests for exp... what a novel idea!

it wouldn't even have to be full pt's of six. you could have smaller ones, like the kind needed in seasonal events

yes moving through the instance's environment with story evolving as you progress was a really neat idea. Being able to do it for EXP makes them even better.

I played WoW, on and off since last Christmas up until maybe six months ago. I have a lvl 32 RNG and a lvl 20 PLD. All in all it was only good for me when I needed to get away from FFXI for a while. I always come back to FFXI though.

FFXI has one thing WoW doesn't - mission/storyline, but that's a one-time deal that you finish and probably won't repeat.

As for my earlier CoP comment and the responses it provoke, I still stand by it. Of course a forum like this will be full of people who love it. As I've said before, forums tend to be populated by a generally higher quality level of players than the general playerbase of the game.

WoW's character models do look ugly, not to mention very low poly. FFXI's endgame armor sets blow away WoW's (with maybe a tiny handful of exceptions).

My biggest problem with WoW's character models is that almost every male model is hunchbacked. The human male looks like a neanderthal on steroids. The NE male looks passably normal (as normal as an elf can be anyways), but is still a little too much steroid use.
"More to do" seems to be based more on opinion here. More to do as in sheer amount of activites, or more to do as in the depth of the activities? WoW has more to do in the sense that it has a lot of quests and PvP. FFXI has more to do in the sense that you actually put forth effort to obtain goals over a long period of time.

WoW is like a theme park; you can ride all the rides in a weekend until it gets boring, then come back again the next year and it wont be boring again.

                          Pounce,

Your statement on Lineage II is actually incorrect. I played the game for a while in just 1 month I was pretty close to the max level possible. I hadn't quested or anything for better gear or anything, but the game is soloable much like WoW but it's difficulty to solo is closer to that of EQ. The negative to Lineage II which is what I pointed out is they have a PvP system were you not only loose gear but also EXP, so unlike WoW were you keep the level you've progressed to in Lineage II you can lose it quite easily due to a PvP.

What is even more anoying about Lineage II (especially the US community) is that the PvP negatives in it's system is not strong enough to deture an obviously stronger player to go and just pop a weak player because a tree branch strached him. The games mechanics outside of that single thing is quite intresting and in all actuality would sit right between WoW and FFXI, just that it has better graphics then WoW actually some of it was more appealing then FFXI until CoP came out and hopefully "Treasures of Aht Urhgan" adds more to make it a comparible beauty which seems like it will do.

If Lineage II would better adjust how their PvP works then leveling to max in there would actually be almost as easy as WoW. I loved being the mage types on Lineage II, forgetting the classes but I think it's the Sorcerer class with the nice HP -> MP conversion then just slap a heal on yourself (They've probably changed that by now) but damn I could go all out with my magic and not drain myself of MP. It always hung around 3/4 full or higher.

Yeah, but it keeps coming up. Gilbuying and POL errors like you mention is starting to become a bit of an old topic too, so your contradicting yourself there. I agree though this debate has been done so many times, just keeps coming back though.
