  • Ideas for New Jobs!

    Hey, I just thought it would be cool to come up with jobs SE could add into FFXI and I wanted to share them with everyone. Maybe you could post some of your own ideas, if anyone has any.

    STRATEGIST

    Far Eastern adepts of war who specialize in multiple enemy battles. Only useing fans for weak normal attacks they can target multiple enemies at distance with a powerful wind strike.

    Strategist Job Abilities:

    Baishi Mato: Allows attacking multiple enemies with other than fan type weapons.

    BIOCHEMIST

    Useing thier intelligance and curiousity to create new powerful potions and elixirs as thier weapons is what these fellows specialize in. Be careful when useing an explodable potion for it may explode before impact or it could damage you if you are too close to the target.

    Biochemist Job Abilities:

    Chesmisty: Create different potions and elixirs useing materials and recipes or try your own and see what happens.

    Basicly just put the job name and some skills with skill description you thought of, but if you can go further and come up with a whole quest and stuff, that would be cool too. Plus this could help SE make up their minds for FFXI jobs if they are in need of some. Or it could show them what some of us would just basicly think of cool jobs or skills to add in further updates/expansions.

    If anyone has comments on the two jobs I put please write some! (BTW THESE JOBS ARE FAKE!! I MADE THEM!)

    I look forward to some ideas the players of FFXI have!

    Ideas like this have been posted before on this forum. If you are curious about everyone elses ideas then you should do a search. Chemist has been discussed plenty of times but stratigest? That's new to me.

      Strategist wouldn't appeal to me, but how you mentioned it was a far eastern job sparked that bit of intrest in me. You must be referring to something/somebody like Sun Tsu and his Art of War. I think that would be an extremely interesting job that could somehow affect the efficiency of a party based on their positioning. The positioning might include where the mages stand as well as melee and might affect defense, attack, accuracy, etc. They could learn their abilities and spells through "chapters", rather than scrolls.

      Just to make it less Bard-like they could have abilities and attacks that could only be executed when the party is in a certain position and begins it together.

            Hehe, just thought it would be cool if some more people would come up with jobs too and when I was talking about strategist, the idea for it came to me while playing Dynasty Warriors for some reason. XD

                    If there's one job I'd like to take it, it would be a mimic. The thought of mimicing other characters special moves, without having to learn them, sounds pretty sweet to me. There would have to be a way to not make it too overpowered though.

                      Well as far as ideas if you want one that I kind of a mix from FFVI and from a MUD I use to play. A Lore Master, what they do is crystalize Traits/Abilities/Spells/Skills of other jobs. These crystalized forms then can be slot into weapons, headgear, armor, etc.. for use (of course limitation on when you can slot them will be in place and the crystal forms would only have a partial benefit to the actual). The job that is subbed though if any crystals in the equipment are from them would then benefit more from those crystals, say for example Berserk with /WAR then Berserk get boosted. SA crystalized and /THF then SA function much like THF main would.

                      Even if the weapons and armor allowed for 5 slots each that would still limit a Lore Masters design for what he'll have to use. Say 5 slots is the max possible they get means 75 they can use.

                      Considering that there is like 200+ spells/summons, 100+ traits, 50 or so Abilities, 15 weapon skills, 7 magic skills, 9 Stats (including HP & MP), 8 elements to resist, and whatever else I may of missed that makes enough options that the Lore Master couldn't get every benefit and with them being half the potency with the subs getting a full potency means the Lore Master can make some wild variations for themselves for multiple different focuses.

                      Thing is much like the Elementalists I tried to make in the MUD it looks way to complex to successfully accomplish without overlooking something that could overpower them or cause other problems. The other Wizards that did the QC and assisted with the testing sure did love the job though, to bad it was never released for that MUDs public to use (QC just kept finding to many ways it could break the MUD).

                        Choco breeder, a new pet job that uses an npc-esque upgradeable choco to help fight. :3 So awesome for kiting and mpk trains!
