          The new Visual Studio Express broke my .Net Framework ><

          Nice tools though. I've been working on a little program of my own and using POLUtils as a reference point to make sure textures and item info and the such are all correct. ^^

            Re: POLUtils 0.6.2 Released

            Doesn't work for me. Said something about not having direct x manager on install and now when I try to run it, I get application error. Tried the two support downloads on the webpage for it and those wouldn't install either.

            Edit: Specifically it said:
            Found .NET framework 1.1
            WARNING: Managed DirectX not found- no audio playback possible until installed.

            I have directx 9.0c installed, but I suspect this is something different.

            When I try to run I get: POLUtils.exe - Application Error
            The application failed to initialize properly. Click ok to terminate.

            When I try to install your mdxredist-0.2.msi it says "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2908."

            When I try mdxredist.msi it says "DirectX for Managed Code requires that a version of the .NET Framework be installed on this system."

            As you can see earlier, I have .NET framework 1.1 Is that the problem? I'm going to try updating to framework 2.0 to see if that fixes it.

            Edit2: Yep, that fixed it. Need .NET framework 2.0 for it.

              I've the .Net 2.0 framework and I can't even install it because it says I don't have the 1.1 framework.

                  For some reason, Managed DirectX isn't installed automatically when you install DirectX - that's why I offer the redists for it on the site.

                  Hmm - POLUtils 0.6.x is built using VS.NET2003 and therefore uses version 1.1 of the .NET framework; POLUtils 0.7 might switch to v2 (for the new GUI stuff).
                  So it's very strange that installing v2.0 fixed the problem you were having.
                  The installer's .NET check has been toned down due to reports of it not detecting the framework in rare cases; as a result, it may list v1.1 as available even when it isn't (due to a bad uninstall of the framework, perhaps) - so it's not a foolproof check. In fact the error reported by mdxredist suggests that you .NET framework had been borked somehow (and the 2.0 installer perhaps fixed it).

                        Right-click either the character name or the macro bar in the treeview and select "Save Changes".

                        It needs 1.1, not 2.0 - and MS is pissing me off with their impossible-to-detect-in-a-way-that-works-for-everybody .NET framework.
                        I changed the detection for 1.1 to be a LOT simpler than it used to be - now it only makes sure that the registry key

                        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v1.1.4322

                        exists and has its "Installed" value set to 1 (which is the method Microsoft recommends).

                        It USED to get information from

                        HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework\InstallRoot
                        and
                        HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework\policy\v<version>

                        but I got a report from someone where that test failed.

                        I think that for 0.7.0 I'll return to the "old" test and use a "Are you sure?"-type dialog instead of a "Panic! No install for j00!"-type dialog ^^

                            I have the same issue as Susurrus. I installed 1.1 and 2.0 and it still says it isn't installed, and I checked the registry values, and all Installs are set to 1.

                            EDIT - Uninstalled 1.1 and it installed properly, then installed 2.0 and now it works fine.

                            Good stuff

                              I triend uninstalling .NET Framework and it said it wasn't installed. ;;
                              I try to install it and it says bad batch file. ;;

                              Can't you just make it skip the check somehow? I have no problem running the previous version of POLUtils that is alraedy installed.
