Truncated searches

Every time I try to form a party, I do a search.
See who is out there.Problem is, when I am in the dunes,or in Jueno,
or sometimes even Bastok, yes Bastok. The search has been "Truncated".
Can only look at names a-d,sometimes only a.
Is there anyway around this?,or am I going to miss an invite because the player chose
a screen name lower on the list..........

I know what you mean BRP, it happns to me too, so it got truncated, so the last pt member I need is in THAT part of the list lol!

and by the way BRP, that sig of yours is really tripping me out, mkes me think of a japanese version of Tom Petty's Don't come around here no more video( one if teh greatest video's to ever grace MTV btw)!

I don't have it happenning as much these days anymore. Anyway, when i happens, all we can really do is keep narrowing down our search. Usually when forming PT, after inviting a few members I won't look at the the whole list anymore and start looking for certain job

Let's say my PT is 53-54. I'll start with
/sea all inv 51-55
Enought people to make decent set up and i'll start my PT. Then i'll just look for jobs I need
/sea all 53-54 rdm
/sea all 53-54 nin
for example.

Truncating the list saves bandwidth. On their side, and our side. It has to find everybody who's currently on the server, what level, what job and subjob, and then what race and rank. That's a lot of information. And imagine you didn't want all that information, used the wrong command and are waiting for 3,000+ people's information to be fed to you on a Dial Up connection. I make sure to use the command to give me the information I'm actualy looking for.

/search <t> : Good for those people who think it's rude to /check them
/search invite 59-62 all : RDM60 looking to start a party
/search area : Wondering why it's so laggy, I check to see how many people are in the zone. This may be truncated depending on where you are
/search all : When I wanna know how many people are on the server. Recently with log in problems, I'd do this to see how many people disco'd and couldn't log back on. Last time I used this, it actually dropped down to 770 people
