FFXI is like those nightclubs full of men and with only a couple of womans.

More like, a nightclub that is filled with a few good looking guys, several desperate ones, some okay looking women, one hot chick with a lot of guys around her and then several trannies with more men around them.

A lot of girls who play FFXI lean towards being a taru anyways (and unless ur a pedophile, u won't hit on a taru).

hmmm, well for me, i dont feel attracted in any kind to game characters. all of u who are saying: ooh i just take female chars cos i like to watch their ass.... ehmm kinda scary. when i choose a character to play a game i choose the one i wanne be like "the strong master of the swords" thats cos i cant be those irl.. im just a simple dude who lives an easy life and is no hero at all. and yeah ur right, i cant be a girl irl either but its weird if people do want to be a girl irl.

now when i have an conversation with a mythra i think its a girl, and its rather unpleasant if i hear its not ... (im sure u people could understand that) but ofcourse i wont pick on u, i cant force u to play the gender u are in real life so i just have to live with it, i wont jump to conclusions and say ur gay or a perv.... i agree, people who do that are dumb F#cks.

If you go along these guys thinkings arnt they the gay ones for having a naked male on their screens or a guy in hotpants most of the time?

i dont know what you like to do with ur character but i cerntainly dont have mine walking around naked.

Maybe I'm the only one who finds it ironic when males playing female toons complain about undersexed guys pestering them thinking they're female when 99% of the time their supposed sole reason for playing said female toon is, "If I'm going to be staring at an ass all day I'd sooner it be a female one".

I'd also be inclined to ask how much help they've turned down in the past on things like LB's and AF when the person helping them was under the illusion he was helping some hawt mithra.

I don’t get it. I played Resident Evil, Perfect Dark, Dino Crisis, and Parasite Eve. When I played Tomb Raider, no one called me names, and when I played Oni, no one cared.

This is where you went wrong. In online games many people tend to think of their characters as extensions of themselves, not as actual game characters that you just happen to control.

I chose a female, because I role play better as a female, I am alittle feminine in real life and roleplay much better as a female then a guy but I have one golden rule........

If you ask me if I am a guy, I will tell you yes, but if you dont ask I dont tell you plain and simple.

I like playing a female, but I am not going to start every conversation with "I am a guy with a penis" every time so as not to avoid things.

Hmmm, oh I'm very much in the same boat as you, I get hit on by mithras all the time...No but really, I think the reason most people think it's a bit strange is because in general the character you create in-game is often thought of as an incarnation of the irl person. They probably think that just because you have chosen a girl that it means that you would prefer to be a girl or something along those lines. An interesting dilema really, and I would have to say that being a mithra would help that a bit, though not with being hit on as much as being made fun of when you tell them you are a girl. The best thing you can do (and I know this from experience with a friend of mine) is become the best at whatever job you persue, and when it comes down to somebody making fun of you it just won't happen. You have the cred for having the power, they have no cred for lack of reason due to your high capability.

p.s.- I put those other comments on there because I don't much like the word gay being placed in sentences containing the words accused or pervert. I'm gay, and even though you may not be, I don't like hearing it put like that...

Male characters' models almost always buff, with wide shoulders and bulging muscles (WoW, cough.) It looks wrong on a magic user, which is what I usually play. Female models are usually pretty dainty (Elvaan, cough) and more suitable for a physically weak character. I'm sure many agree.

Mithra was perfect for my BLM. Slender and boyish, not at all dainty. Having no male option means few try to flirt with them. The stats weren't to bad either (I find Tarutaru revolting.) Two players mistakenly tried to flirt with me over a year long run in FFXI, one of them only after he found out I was male.

I'm a guy and I play a mithra. I can see where it could cause an issue, if you were to lead on players to believe you were a opposite gender. But I can say that I really never had an issue where people questioned me about it or flirted with me because of my character.

When I first started playing, my very first character was a hume male. But one day while leveling in Sand'Oria I saw a mithra RDM come by and thought the character looked cool. So I decided to restart with that character since I only had a few levels into the game and nothing of real value.

I think the problem is people chose to assume what gender a person is and chose to act differently towards a player based on that assumption.

my first character was a mythra. one day i got bored, and created a hume chick just to mess around. but i thought the hume looked cooler, so six months later i still haven't gone back to the mythra. at this point i dont think i ever will lol

If you know that people are going to asume you're a girl and/or gay because you're playing a girl character, then just don't do it, the games not gonna be any different if you pick a male character, and when you play it's not like you're locked instaring at your character, so thats not much of an excuse for picking a female character.

Or you could just ignore it, but if you're gonna be a guy playing a girl character then deal with the consequences and stop complaining, thats just the way it is.
