Fun With Event Items
Remember the mochi that was being given away earlier this year in the Doll Festival and the Feast of Swords? Being a Galka, I sold all the mochi I won, except the Galka variety and hung on to that. Since it's the Harvest Festival (re: Halloween), I decided to use my piece of Galka Mochi and run around Bastok Markets.
Well, I stopped near the gate, minding my own business, and these two players were completely befuddled at my appearance.
"WTF is that?" asked Cydewinder.
"Aww," cooed Mistye, "it's a baby Galka."
Now I was considering playing the part that had been thrown to me: "Sorry, my elder says I shouldn't talk to strangers. I think my moogle's calling!" and then run off, leaving them completely dumbfounded if this was part of the event, or thinking I was a Square Enix employee trying to replicate a bug, or if I was a hacker who had illegally modded my character. (A little .hack moment for you there.)
But I decided to level with them, dropped the costume, and explained how the mochi worked. We all had a good laugh, as they had just been unintentially punk'd. They offered to buy my mochi, but unfortunately, I just used up my only piece. Knowing SE, they might give it away again in future events, so I told to keep an eye open.
So even though some players say that a lot of these event items are useless, hang on to them and make your own fun!
