    This is why we can't play right now. Not SE's fault.

    Before we have 5 million more threads about people complaining about SE and not being able to play, this is the reason why we can't play right now:

    It was posted on the ffxi livejournal community not too long ago. Apparently most of Asia's network is pretty much screwed right now. So no more crying and bawling. We'll just have to wait it out. Besides....everyone should be used to this by now. :p

        this link actually has been posted almost daily now... I'm pretty sure everyone's aware of it already. But it doesn't stop us from getting upset however.

        You can only blame the internet so many times... same thing as DDoS. It may be the cause but using the same excuse over and over and over gets old.

A ping against them seem to demonstrate similar results, right now it shows Japan to have 0 index (means nothing to me), with a 100% packet loss (High collision rate or backbone to the area is having major problems).

              Well the playonline site is back up. Someone who claims to still be in the game reported that there's going to be maintenance again some time soon. As for that link this is my first time ever seeing it, let alone seeing it posted here everyday. :p So if it's redundant somehow then I apologize x_x

                About that site though, it's nice but it would be better if they at least had 2-3 servers to an area in different locations of that area. Like Japan they only have 1 server, so stating Japans connection is a little weak in that the link to that 1 server could just be down.

                      Well really don't know what to say x_x seemed reputable enough to me so I'm just reporting what I saw. If everyone is up to continue complaining I'll let you have at it. :p Either way I'm going to go and take a nap. :p

                        this game is ridiculous now, you pay to play yet the service we get in return blows chunks compared to other mmos

                        its just plain ridiculous, the game has been out for 3 years yet they still have yet to grasp what to do and what NOT to do

                          supersyd, you in Australia? or Japan? or Taiwain? So far from my test on pinging places I can find from WhoIs in Japan I'm getting 100% packet loss. So I would think the sites info to be fairly accurate.

                            Just like to point out that website is full of shit. It's shown Asia as having 100% packet loss for the last three months and people still quote it even when people on this site in Asia say their internet is fine.

                              Nah, it's just that the site doesn't have enough sources to ping yet. I've found areas in Japan were a ping is working 0% packet loss, but other areas are getting 100% packet loss. So I would say it looks like a section of Japans network is down.

                              EDIT:

                              Heh, the Japan IPs I had found that were working stopped. Seems like there's a problem over there to me.

                              EDIT AGAIN:

                              Anyone got a Japan IP that doesn't route through kddnet? Doubt it since all that WhoIs says is that is the Japanse Network Information Center. Everything seems to be choking right there.
