  • New to FFXI

I just started (yesterday in fact) and i have leveled up to 5. I have met a couple of people but the lower levels seem to be barren for some reason. Is this the same on all servers or am I just in the wrong spot at the wrong time?

Interface is different than any MMO i've ever played tho I find it fun.

No one parties before level 10(or 9, at the earliest.)
So that's most likely why. Also, since the game's been out for a while, you won't often find a large number of lv1-9 players in a zone, especially since it takes experienced players only a few hours to level up past 1-9.

Remember that xp/h (xp per hour) is what you are looking out for. Chain (not as in chain xp bonus) those easy enemies when you hit around lvl 6 or 7. Low downtime and better xp per hour. Once you hit 10 head to Valkurm Dunes and look for a PT.

Welcome to the game. Hope you have fun ^.^

Well that's part of it, the other part depends on were you are going. For example North Gustaberg near Port Bastok will be quite empty almost 24/7, at most you'll likely see a player or a party of players running past heading to a zone like Palborough Mines.

Were if you go to South Gustaberg you'll likely find more people, and up the mountain find maybe 3-4 players there as well.

Kind of the same at almost all the starting areas. East Sarutabaruta is busier then West Sarutabaruta, West Ronfaure is busier then East Ronfaure, South Gustaberg is busier then North Gustaberg.

Oh, and welcome to the forum and games. Be good or the bad cop (Neighbourtaru) will get you

Kitsune, like the Avatar is that just a created character or is from an actually anime or game?

Thanks for the nice posts. I'm a taru whm in Windurst right now. Love the game just trying to get used to all the controls.

I'll try to find some stuff around there then head out farther. Hopefully I can run into some people when I hit 10 and get a PT.

Well if you are planning to keep that lv. 5 character you can only move that lv. 5 character 1 way now. That's by World Shifts.

If you are planning to make another character and still keep that lv. 5 then someone would have to give you a World Pass. If you just want to change and deleted the lv. 5 character then there is a time consuming method of creating and canceling till the system gives you the server you want.

World passes let you log onto a specific server? Tho you have to make a new character?

On the character creation screen there's a box where you can put in a WP (World Pass). That puts your character on the specified world.
