Okay, first I will explain my situation then I will ask my question.

The other night I was searching for a party in Kazham when I got an invite. It was from a RDM and a WAR so I accepted and brought a WHM with me also. They said that another RDM and THF were on their way but they were coming from Windhurst so that meant a wait. While waiting I felt like doing a search and I found a PLD and a DRK. I thought well this will work better because the PLD could tank better than me, a DRK is a better DD than RDM or THF and I could pull no problem. I brought this up to my leader and he responded that he wanted to wait for the others. Long story short, we waited a total of 45 minutes because the THF missed the airship once and the RDM missed it twice. Everyone in the pt were newbs except me and the WHM (side note the WHM had to give lessons on how to set macros!) and this pt setup was horrible and we gained little xp and I fianlly left.

So my question is, should we have told the RDM and THF to forget the party and invite the DRK and PLD, or is a promise a promise and we should wait no matter how long? Just wondering what you all think.

You should have left yourself, and brought the Whm with you. Then you could have taken the Pld and Drk and had a great party.

Personally, as leader of a party if I ask somebody to join and they agree I feel commited to wait for them. Now don't get me wrong, it would be extremely frustrating waiting that long for a sub-par party, but I just hate telling somebody to go away after I just invited them. Probably depends on how I felt that day though, cause if I was frustrated enough I would have probably just said screw it and went with the PLD and DRK. Especially if I was able to pre-emptively determine they were noobs(how do you miss the airship twice??)

If it was just a short wait of one airship ride, it's definitely correct etiquette to stay and wait for the others.

However, when you have to wait that much longer because of their fault, you should feel more than obligated to leave. You're doing them a favour by waiting for them, and they can't be bothered to catch the airship they're waiting on. I wouldn't feel bad by leaving, just apologize and tell them that you'd rather find a party that's ready.

1) I wait after inviting because I think its rude, especially if they paid for transportation already.

2) BUT....I know how long it takes to get where I am at from where they are. If it takes a lot longer (as in your case), then I feel I have a right to invite replacements.

3) BUT #2.....I usually won't wait that long. I'll leave the party and log or seek again. Mostly log.
