Too late?

Well I just reactivated my FFXI account im a 45blm/22whm

I got caught in the WoW hype as did many people (The fought of pvp dragged me in as well as IRL freinds)

But my main question is FFXI has been around for awhile now and is to too late to get back into it. I know the xbox360 is coming out with FFXI and im sure that will bring new faces. But my main point is how long is XI's lifespan do you think. I also am aware of the new expansion coming.

Also will I be able to use my account now on the 360 XI?

I think... I can play FFXI for another 10 years...

There are still a lot I haven't done and I've been playing for at least 3 years now Recently what really keeps me playing are
1. good friends, good LS. Without this I probably won't be playing this long
2. guild skills. This is very addictive... I right now am totally hooked with fishing and don't really do anything else as much.

You should be able to use account on the Xbox360 seens as you can use accounts on either PC or PS2 as it is. Youll need to buy expansions for both consols to register it on your current account and then the expansion to play it on Xbox though I think, which sucks.

FFXI's lifespan will probably end around the same time as the planets core cools to a solid and we are engulfed by solar radiation. Or the sun blows up.

EQ1 is still going from what I hear, and SE said they'll continue producing content as long as there's players to view it. I'm sure with their size they'll continue producing content well beyond the point where they're no longer making a profit. SE isn't like normal business in that they exist to make money, but they're very devoted to their customers/fans as well.

Agreed.

You may not be up with the top tier people as you begin. But that's not to say you arn't able to catch up to them in time if that's what you're worried about. You're also right in thinking of the new members the 360 release will likely bring.

I say if you want to play then it's never too late.

I don't plan on playing ffxi forever, as like all things successors will offer more like all technologies.

But that doesn't mean you can't get back into it. Try not to OD yourself, as that's what causes most people to leave.

I sometimes do nothing but chat all day, not play for days if not a week, then go full teir.(LS events not withstanding)
