  • You call this TH1?

    TH1......

I sub THF and go maze blizzardga crawlers there try to farm silks.
2 hours pass, got only 5 silks and found a chest.

Key was in mog house, so warp back and sub whm to tele-mea back.
On my way to chest, killed 2 group of crawlers, boom, got 6 silks.
And an air element, boom, got 3 clusters.

    TH1......

circumstantial evidence suggests that TH does not kick in often/at all when -ga farming.

not to mention the day an moon phase can affect drop rates

        Re: You call this TH1?

One of the guys in my linkshell reads a lot of the japanese FFXI books with formulaes and such. He told me that every mob has a drop which is rare to a point where TH has no effect (possibly just TH1? I'm not sure) Anyways, he doesn't sub THF for farming these mobs and now neither do I with the added bonus of being able to warp to HP. Crawlers' drop is Silk Thread, Goobbues' drop is tree cuttings. You see a lot of other stuff drop more often with /THF but if you're farming for the main drops anyway then they get annoying. Take it with a grain of salt, I'm not giving it to you as any form of proof or evidence. I don't notice a drop in drop rates however. /shrug.

For TH to work, I've heard (and from my experiences trying these things on my BLM), you have to be targetting the mob for TH to work. Therefore, TH would only kick in on one crawler in the train; the one you casted the -ga spell on.

Looks like you'll have to kill em 1 at a time ^^ try that and compare the result.

              Re: You call this TH1?

When I farm crawlers in the Maze 65Rng/25THF (I know it isn't really leveled up much). Going 1 on 1 I've had Crawlers drop silks sometimes to the point of 5/7, on top of this at the point that my drop rates improve I've also notice I've been capable of stealing from Crawlers (Stolen item is silk threads). I'm still not sure what it is but there is definatly something tied with the days or moon phase that effects drop rates. Especially when I can go 2 hrs 1 day and get 4 stacks of silks and do 2 hrs again another day and be lucky to complete 2 stacks, there was even one 2hr session were I didn't even complete 1 stack.

Something I've still been testing, so far nothing that is definate and repeatable. I do notice a cycle is starting to show up since I've maintained a constant 2 hr time of farming each day. Starting at the same time each day.

                Re: You call this TH1?

Well I've gone to Burburmi, or however the hell it's spelled, and farmed Silk. I usually pull three, and at one point in each of those chains of 3, I use Spinning Scythe. There have been times that I've noticed a higher drop rate if non-targeted Crawlers died from the AoE. I've actually killed 5 in one stroke once, and 4 Silk threads dropped. Now, I could have just been going through some good fortunate at the time. I did farm 18 silk in 25 minutes, and it then took me 2 hours to farm the last 6 to complete the second stack. But in the end, 80k is 80k.

                  Re: You call this TH1?

I found moon cycle to be more important than thf sub for farming, back when I farmed them tiger fangs non-stop for weeks.

If the item you're farming is your target mob's low end drop, then TH makes a significant impact. The more rare it is, the less it seems to matter.

                    Re: You call this TH1?

I think TH is just a multiplier to the drop %.

So if the Drop is 1% normal, TH1 won't do all that much. Lets say th1 doubles it, it is still only 2%.

On common drops (things thats 30% for example) TH is a HUGE difference. Since it is now 60% drop rate.

                      Re: You call this TH1?

I doubt moon cycle affects droprate, it's the same as the rumour a long time ago that said, you can only get Teleport-Yhoat marble(quest item) when it's raining on watersday in Yuhtunga, when my friend got hers on a lucky 1st kill, during lightsday.
May be I should tell people, if you chant a special spell IRL while subbing BRD1 to DRG10(you are screwed if either are above or lower than that), your next NM kill as your main job will give you the rare drop for sure, hey it worked for me(my friends tested it too!).

Anyhow, TH should just be a multiplier in drop %, which is why you won't notice much difference in TH1, or TH2 on NM rare drops(or key hunt), I got monster signa on my 2nd kill, with no THF sub. I would say TH1 is about x3 or x2, and TH2 is x8 or lower(not sure of the exact value).

NM crawlers or high level crawlers tend to drop silk thread more often(same for goobbue and such), I used to farm rolanberry ### in nest, and I get a few stacks of silk along with the stacks of special rolanberries.

                        Re: You call this TH1?

th sure helps in someway. what way is it? nobody really know.
I had used thf 58 to farm a bit of ram leather and horn in la theine and also whm/blm to farm it which mean 1 with th2 and 1 with no th and the drop is easily seen at least on the ram monster n drops.
With th2 i get constant ram skins and horn in numbers of 3-7+ and without th2 i get 1-4.
And it seem like horn is more rare then skin and also is higher price in ah.
With th2 i get like 8/10 kills to drop horn but without th2 i get like 3/10.
I had even farm silk long ago just outside of windhurst with th or th2 without using GA to kill and kil lthem 1 by 1 and i think i get like 1 stack per hour if i did not remember wrongly

                        Double Post Edited:
oh forgot to add something, moon phase may effect it i think. i remember 1 day where we went to farm bomb queen ash and only 2-3 dropped in 2hour+ farming and is full moon on that day =.= arghhh
some people say full moon is good but it prove otherwise for me on that day lol

I agree with the ram thing completely. I've hunted those things since my thf was lvl 30. Bacl then I would get 1-3 items, 4 at most, usually skins. But after hitting 45 I havn't seen less then 4 items drop, sometimes as much as 8 items drop. Again, mostly skins, which sucks cause I'm a bonecrafter ._.

long time ago i went to camp VE, with TH2. Killed it 4 times in a row, and got nothing but insect wings. Then it popped in front of a taru WHM/BLM(no TH) and he claimed and killed it and got the drop...
