I've got both the NA and JP versions of XI and the JP version works fine with all the Kana and keyboard setups working perfectly. But i have yet to figure out how to use the Auto-Translate function using japanese. No matter what i type, after i hit tab it goes to the menu of auto's like it would in the NA version if you type something not in the auto-trans. So i was wonder how or why this is? Do i not hit tab but instead a different button? Do i actually need a japanese keyboard? or perhaps it is a different set up for their version i don't understand. Below is an example just in case you don't get my question.
If in NA version i type cong then hit tab it will bring up <congratz> for me to select.
In japanese it is omedetou which i can clearly read in hirigana as others use the auto trans. Now if i type O, or omede, or anything (its written in japanese in-game but english romanji just for this post) it will simply bring up the entire directory as if the word didnt exist, when i know it does.
