How much life left?

hay how much life does FFXI have left, like years?
Is there new patches coming out? or new content?

I bought the game about 4 days ago waiting for it to arive from the US, I love FF games.
So even if it still only got 6 moths left I will still have time to play this, so that good.

Well there is a new expansion that is slated to come out.

It is going to be relased into yet another platform xbox 360.

So I would say it has some time to go yet.

FFXI has many years left. Once you see servers consolodating. Then you can begin to speculate on when a game will be shut down.

The only major MMO's that were released in the US which have been 100% shut down were Earth&Beyond and in due time (December 31, 2005), Asheron's Call 2.
Well I guess you can include Merdian 59... but I belive some people put up a free server of it.

EQ1 has been out 6? years and barely started to consolodate non-pvp servers withen the past few months.

Keep in mind, E&B and AC2 both went down in a Blaze of Shame.

Well, it's said that the Xbox360 will beta expansion pack. Which I think is BS, but now that I've had some time to think about it, kinda makes sense. Can't exactly have people who are already Lv.60+ beta testing content and areas while having other non-beta people interacting around them. But I still say it sucks that they get to beta test new content, when we've been playing the game for years now.

It sounds like a mssive game and lots to do and explore so hopfully I can play it for a year or 2 hay.

Yeah, I'll prolly buy one soon as it comes out so that I can beta test it though. Be kinda interesting lvling and not seeing anything on the ah...so no +1 equip, have to buy what little stuff I can from npc's. When it gets closer I may have to get some advice from ppl who beta tested before.
FFXI still has a LONG time to go. New ppl keep buying the game and getting on 360 will probably add even more. Server sizes seem to still be pretty static and going strong. I'd give it atleast a few more years.

Not to mention the new expansions, but also the "Vana'diel Adventurer Recruitment Program" is setup to run you 1 year worth at least if you are going for it's special items. If the 365 day gift you get on that program is good enough it can add more to get the late ones to do it to stay around another year with a friend they invite.

Anyway that Recruitment Program at most has only reached like around 100 days life so far and it still got that 365 day gift that's still anonymous on what it is. There does seem to have a lot of life still left in it, just got to get all those players to change their thinking away from this strange idea that MMORPGs will only last 1-2 years. Especially when you see ones of 6+ years, the ones that last so short are usually the badly designed ones.

As far as I've seen read and experienced with people around me FFXI is still just being realized by many.

MMORPGs are fueled by gamers, and believe it or not, even EQOA is alive ^^. Not by much but it's there cause there are ppl who play.

FFXI is in the same boat. However, I feel that it is an immensely deep game. Just from getting Rank 7 in one country, and converting all my COP and ROZ music, I'm eager to play more when I get a chance and enjoy the story.

There has been patches bi-monthly since its start and one expansion pack a year. We will be getting the third expansion pack soon.

I've only seen about a million times, "We will support content as long as players continued to play FFXI".

I cant believe EQOA is still going. When I stopped playing there wasn't too many people left.. Well atleast on CLW.. But Cause there's gamers out there all over the world playing this game, it'd most likely be going for a long time. Usally MMO's do.
