Re: Announcing all new job possibilities!

The title of "rarest job type" does seem to vary depending on server, and to a lesser degree, your level range.

The only job type I've consistently had trouble finding is the refresher. Tanks and healers I usually don't have trouble with, but I've had countless experiences where parties have failed to leave Jeuno due to the lack of a RDM/BRD, or where parties have fallen apart due to the RDM/BRD leaving with no replacement in sight.

Judging from my own experience, I think the job type FFXI needs most is another refresher. I don't know about other servers, but BRDs are nonexistant on mine. I've been told there is a very high concentration of BRDs at endgame levels, but that doesn't help the 10-74 (or 41-74?) level ranges.

NIN and PLD appear to be relatively evenly distributed. I'm not sure which job is more numerous, but the ratio seems fairly close to 50-50.

RDM and BRD on the other hand is closer to 90-10.

Again, this is specifically on my server, but from what I've heard, it seems BRD really is the least played job in the entire game.

Isn't "blue mage" typically considered to be the "Gun Mage?" I know it was like that in FFX-2 at least (I hope that's the one I am thinking about). It was an interesting mage job to say the least.

Re: Announcing all new job possibilities!

A blue mage is a blue mage. The gun mage is just an adaptation of the blue mage that was used in the recent final fantasy-s. The classic blue mage wears mage robe and carries a staff or whip?. If SE were to add any jobs, it will probably be the classic version of it.

Re: Announcing all new job possibilities!

I think Blue mage will basically be the same as in FF 5. To me a blue mage is the same as a RDM, but the difference is RDMs are more of a mage class where i think BLUs are an attacker with some magic to add to it, kind of like a DRK but a little weaker. I think BLUs should get 1 or 2 attack bonuses and the rest wahtever. For me BLUs would be the kick ass sub for DRGs (god i hope we get white wind XD) and as a sub for drgs they get a multi pourpose wyvern. Any constructive criticism is welcome but flames are not!

Maybe Necromorpher, a la Vincent Valentine of FFVII? The ability to turn into daemonic beasts and undead creatures would be pretty cool.

I don't like the idea of necros, pirates, etc. Non final fantasy ish stuff imo.

Have you ever seen the cartoon Pirates of Dark Water?

                      Didn't think so.

Re: Announcing all new job possibilities!

Actually... if you do your research. Pirate was a class in the first original few Final Fantasy Games... the only reason why there werent any from FF3 on was because the storyline didnt have a place for it. Until FF11, the term pirate was very few and far apart in FF games.

Now in FF11, most people know that the boat from Selbina to Mhaura can and sometimes will be attacked by pirates. HOWEVER, all research has shown that the storyline reveals that the "pirates" are simply the lost souls and skelestons of passengers of the maiden voyage. That first boat was never heard from again and was rumored to that the boat sailed into cursed waters and was never seen again - thus they return to attack random boat trips.

SO..... with the new trailer for the expanision coming up... it is in my opinion that the class "Pirate" can not be ruled out. HOWEVER, S-E has made it pretty obvious that there will be a plot behind the mystery Pirate Ship shown in the trailer.

Furthermore; Other jobs such as Geomancer and Necromancer are very possible. Without giving away too much detail of the storyline through-out the missions, There are characters along the story that you will meet that do hold the power to resurrect the souls and spirits of the dead. You willl also encounter a mage who is said to "predict" and "cast magic" on the environment around key locations, making them habitable.

These backstories are out there .... in the game... waiting to be studied. I would very much like to hear the opinions of other Vana'diel Historians.

Have you even looked at the other boat when pirates attack. there are normal NPC's summoning the Skeletons on to the ferry.

Yeah, thats what I thought as well. And an NPC in Norg says that they summon the undead to attack the ship for them if I recall correctly.

Yes, I think I just worded it wrong. But yes, you are correct... NPCs do summon them.

Which now that I think about it... Necromancer! lol Proof its possible lol
