Of course the parent company has bylaws they have to follow but other than that they take care of the customer service for China etc.

So, this means that WoW in China will be different from WoW everywhere else? Seems to me, this will just lead to a lot of importers or the chinese will join servers where this rule is not in effect.

        Looks like BS to me.

The amount of extra programming and effort needed to actually impliment this stupidly over-complicated way of getting people to stop playing would be phenominal.

I don't think this would affect us in any way whatsoever seeing as how FFXI hasn't been released in China officially :/

Also, would this affect Hong Kong? I'm still not sure how everything is working b/w them and the rest of China.
                Possibly,

China law does go to hongkong law, but the details of the hand over, maintains that all Chinese law has to be reviewed by the HK committee before sanctioned. That's the a fancy way of saying, No, the can't.

If HK decides to get on boat and think the same way, then yes it will include HK. But that's basically saying if HK wants do the same thing anyway.

Since this isn't a very politically charged issue, I doubt Mainland would push it on HK, so if people in HK don't want it, then it's not in it.

China loves to have systems that go overboard. It's just the slight differences between US and them. The impliment low cost systems, that will always work at the cost of stopping anything else because it's nessary. They censoring of the internet was done the same way. Block all all geocities, all .net and .orgs. Sure a lot of non related things are blocked too, but who cares.

This won't effect FFXI. The servers or clients would have to be Chinese. And since the clients could be easily hacked, it would have to be server based. In other words, it would only effect games where the servers the Chinese are playing on are in China. Don't all those games listed have seperate servers in different parts of the world? Including a China one...

FFxi isn't on china's radar. It's not really wide spread much.

If they wanted to do something about a game which says no, they would simply ban the IP.

If china really wants to do this, they will trust me.

Everyone knows the DVD story right? no? Let me tell you.

First off DVD, as in the name, the format, the filetype everything is owned by 1 company, when someone wants to use a DVD they have to pay liscence fee's or some kind of fee, i forget the name, to that company.

Well when DVD started getting popular, and china could forsee that they as a country would have to pay that fee, they decided to NO, F-Off DVD, and when they did, they made their own near "DVD" quality format called.... VCD yup, you guess it, chinese made VCD's, so all you movie pirates go ahead and thank them.

On another note, I hope this does get enforced. Anyone remember where IGE is based out of? China... I hope they ban online games completely in china and there would be no more Gil Sellers camping every damn thing on every game you play. Well there might be, but I imagine it'd cut down a WHOLE lot. If i recall right there is only 2 countries in wich a company cannot sue someone for RMT and that is Russia... and China. So if china is out of the way then gil sellers would be reduced dramitically.

                              Take The quiz yourself!

Errr no.... VCD wasn't made in China...it was made by Sony in 1993.

And it wasn't really China, but rather HK (which then filtered into china due to it's cost) that did made it fairly popular due to the fact that they pay realistic prices, where a 5cent CD pretty much reflected the cost. While we do have copyrights and royalties, every data shows that owning a move is not $19.90 where 10cents is the actual cost of a CD.

And IGE isn't really from China either. It's in HK again. Which has very different roots from China(even if it finally owns a chinese name, it's very little PROC China heritage)

And I believe IGE idea was founded by good old Americans, that found they could make a business of it and then STARTed a company in HK as outsourcing.

Yea, we're the clever businessmen aren't we? We do have a history of that.

So to deflate that American pride you have going, if you want to blame ideals for these troubles, look no further then ourselves.

                                Oh and by the way,
US isn't really a free country nor a democracy, and China isn't really communist. We're all hppocrites. TRUE democracy and TRUE communism is not what you see.
