But I definitely understand a male Monk wearing no-stat pants instead of Republic Subligar until Byakko's Haidate or whatever.

I couldn't wait to get out of my Republic Subligar because with a Mercenary Captain's Doublet...it looks absolutely horrific. Especially on a Taru, because not only does the Doublet go over the subligar so it looks as if you're not wearing any pants, but if you change camera angles to look for the subligar, it looks as though you're wearing a diaper.

Usually you'll find that the "efficient" armor is the generally expensive armor because everyone buys it so its extremely easy to sell and therefore easier to control the price as opposed to something with no stats on it that doesn't sell very often, therefore having to undercut prices in order to actually get the items out of your inventory. Some of the "efficient" armor looks really good though, but I've found that I generally have to go out of my way to buy armor that I think looks stylish to dork around in. Hope this helps ^^
