That was about a week after NA PC release.

You were able to world hop via making new accounts uptil that point.

I agree on this. Maybe it is on a crappy server or somethin' (?)

Shadowzone, if you had read the thread you would have found several explanations for why the population seems so low on the live cam.

Actually it patched like 1-2 updates before NA PC release. By October 29, 2003 players being hooked to a specific server was already done. You can unhook yourself though, but the requires deleting all character info you currently have.

Like it wasn't bad enough that we can't get players to use the search, now they can't read a simple 3-4 pages on a thread

            I don't quite understand... what's the difference?

People were using the trick to jump between severs, after NA release and for quite a while. I had 2-3 friends do it to land on my server, I couldn't afford to buy them worldpass 5 minutes into the game.

I suppose you mean people with multi-character accounts...but that doesn't really factor in when you consider people don't buy multiple characters much on different servers.

You can still jump from server to server if you wanted. The thing is a player can't just make a second and expect it go anywere else except to the same server their first one is at unless they clear out all other character data. The patch was simply so a person could remain on the same server with each character created.

It was done for 1 main reason, keep all the server balanced. If you have a player that makes 5-10 characters and sits there getting them all on each individual server then that player can choose the world he wants to go to. Now allow this to happen along more and more players, eventually the end result is 1 server getting grossly bloated and the others almost a ghost town.

With the restrictions put in place with WP and all it reduces it so that server imbalances are very slight and not a single server gets to overloaded, while allowing a character that has more of a reason can be on multiple servers.

The live cam now says "Summer 2005" with a picture of a goblin and a mandragora. Fablinix?
