Never said they're not making a profit, but it's not 1+1 here. And a machine that can flash on a industry conveyor-belt level is a sunk cost as well, though without knowing how many they made, vs how much they rented it and QoS it..it's only educated guesses on my part. But everything adds up.
No, we can. It was just a customer relations decision not to do it. We already beat the competiton around us on it, we just figured we'd sweaten it a little more.
Yes everything adds up, but the retail price always also figures in gross income. The lowest I've ever seen in gross was 20% which would mean the cost then, if to make it did only get that as a gross is $79.20. Now I highly doubt that the Harddrive and Software would push it's cost to were gross is that low. The highest gross I've seen was about 200%, granted it a cheap food item but still making 3 times it's cost is good .
The most common Gross incomes I've seen is usually about 50%. I feel more that the software and the HDD is around 50% gross income (Probably even more, since you can see a HD of 100GB value of $99.99 sold at $49.99 which is about 50% gross if $49.99 was at cost.) So I wouldn't be surprised if the cost for making that package there was around $49.99 or less. My guess is cost for making that was probably around $25.00 (75% gross).

As I noted earlier, one of my local stores had 3 PS2 HDDs for sale. I was in there last night and two of them were gone. I can't imagine they were just moved some place else, or shipped to another store, so I'd like to think two somebodies in my area just bought one.
But again, the only place I can find the expansion pack is at KBToys thanks to lionx.
