The website says Aug. 15th at 0:00 (PST) Pacific Standard Time. Or California Time as some say >.>

0:00 is midnight in the transition from the 14th to the 15th. In the 24hr time 0:00 is always the start of that day, just like a timer.

Are there any other items with the same model that can be obtained other ways? This isn't a very kind move to those coming in using the Vanadiel Collection.

Not right now, no, though you could technically swap the .dat file with something else.

It's an event item, part of the coolness of the item is that you had to be playing at the time to get it. Over time it's rarer and unique (though atm, of course, everyone and their mother has one). Same with the Pumpkin head things, Yukatas, costume belts, moogle belts, santa hats, wooden gkatanas, and all the other fun event stuff.

However, something to consider is that SE does like to reuse the items in other events. Last year's Halloween event gave away very similar items to the one before. The Easter event this year was basically identical to the one prior. While you couldn't quest the Yukatas this year, moogles were there to let you buy one if you wanted. So I would imagine this won't be the last time you'll be able to get the swimsuits...just probably the last time before next summer rolls around.

Event stuff tends to be mostly just a novelty. Level 1 gear to wear around town or whatever, nothing that would gimp you for not having it. There tends to be an event every couple months or so anyway, so if you're coming in with the collection, just look forward to the next one. Eventually all the items start taking up a lot of space anyway ::looks at storage::

Only event I remember giving them out while I've played has been the census thing, same as when they gave out the Adventurer's Certificate and all. Bronze, Silver, and Gold moogle belts with 1-3% HP boost and 1-3 Water resist (going in order), all level 1 to use.

Far as I know they were a past item that was given out again at that event, but I'm not sure how they were obtained in either case since I never got one. I'd heard if you had enough job levels/playtime/whatever you could get 'em, or if you talked to enough moogles, or just random.

But that's how event items are =P Eventually so many people drop the items or started after you could get one, etc, that they become rare.

Yeah, moogle belts was during the Adventurer Appreciation in 2004. Some of the event items are quite useful though. I know the Trick Staff was giving you the dezoning, also the Chocobo Tickets are killer when the prices for a chocobo start reaching that 5k-10k.

With this event the swimsuits (+1 version) are actually very useful even outside of the event. With the improvement it gives to clamming you can get upgraded to the max 200 ponze very easily. With that ability you are able to get a lot more items out of that 500 gil you spend, if you are really lucky on it that 500 gil will get you 20k and I've heard rumors of a potential 5mil for just sitting at a clamming point and searching it over and over.

Yeah, after getting my +1 items I've certainly considered going back out to Porgonorgo and trying clamming again. It's a really nice area to just hang out in anyway.
