no kiddin , isnt that what chat logs are for? if they can prove abuse and breaks in the user agreement from it you should be able to prove you traded an item, thing is that the GM wont care ;; and i think thats crap , if they care enough to get involved then they need to take steps to make sure all parties involved walk away satisfied, its just good customer service. I am sure part of my monthly fee goes to these knucklehead GM;s , so they should stop wating my money lol

Well you're kinda doing the same thing by saying that the GM is probably in the right and that the player might very well have been a criminal. I dunno, seems to me like all you can do is pick a side and go with what you believe. GMs in the past have been known to do really crazy things when it comes to problems like this, so it's easy for me to believe that the GM fouled up somewhere.

That may be true , but isnt the saying "Innocent until proven guilty" ? theres no proof the other party knew or didnt know for that matter that it was stolen, if the GM had said we know you knew it was illegaly gotten money we have the proof i wouldnt have bothered to post. but thats not the case. This poor person dont seem to know whats happenin lol

The person didn' seem to know what was going on. Anybody can play dumb. I'm not siding with the GM, nor the player, I'm just pointing out that it isn't wise to quickly takes sides based on little information. These pictures could have been easily photochopped for all we know.

How do we know this person wasn't already proven guilty? There might have been a conversation with this person before they were taken to jail through tells. They might have asked this person what he or she knew about the ill gotten gil and found that he/she knew about it.

Or this could be an outrageous action taken by a GM. We still don't know why he did it. It might have been an order from his superiors, or he might still be taking steps to correct the situation.

All I'm saying is that this is the internet; if we believed everything we saw on the internet we could be fooled into doing anything.

Re: GMs stealing gil from players?

That guys a senior GM? This is incredibly sad. I believe there should be a group of people, non-GMs, who look over all GM issues and follow through accordingly. For this example, at least give back the item to the person.

Its stories like this, which I've been reading more and more lately that make think about leaving this game. Especially knowing that this could happen to me. What back-up have I got?

I could farm for months (paying my $$$), working and gratting my ass off, buy the materials for a Heubergeon then have a high lvl smither craft one. Only to have a GM 1 week later take the item from me saying that the gil used to lvl his smithing skill was illegal. I'm beginning to think that could actually happen!
                Keshin is back!

very true and i do agree, but based on that information alone from the first post i think more should have been done and i am glad this was posted because i didnt even know things like this could happen

We can debate about it all we want I guess. In the end I suppose Impaction was right about us not jumping to conclusions when we don't have a lot of information.

Re: GMs stealing gil from players?

Anyone take time to consider the fact that the buyer and seller could be a tandem team that buy and sell to one another in order to LAUNDER the fraudulently gotten gil? Notice how the GM used the "friend" word MANY times? I believe this to be an attempt at slapping the seller in the face basically and letting him know that the GM was ON to the whole scheme him and the buyer had going on.

However, as everyone else has already pointed out: Too little info. I'd REALLY like to find out what item was sold. I mean if he sold the guy Hare meat for 1.9 million gil that would be a DEAD give away that he was laundering the money.

There's something odd right at the beginning IMO...
how is receiving funds from someone against the rule?
I gave that person an item in that price
wouldn't it make more sense to say "I sold an xxx item"....? These 2 sentences alone made the whole conversation very ... suspicious.

Either way, the item could have been restored to the origonal person's iventory. Thats bad work on the result of the Senior GM. At that moment I would have loged out to playonline and imeadiatly contacted Customer Service, thats the only step above a GM a player can go if the SGM trys somthing.

Still, Jei is right, the cryptic use of the Player's speach was suspicious. However, even if it was just like a Rabbit Hare Meat, one could get the item back, and then the GM under no cercumstances have been able to take heat from this. This really was a seriese of bad judgement calls on the part of the GM.

I find that whole converstion to be BS, I think it is fake, because a GM can not take money like that, with out a vald reason, and that is not one, also if it is real, that person most likely is crooked as well, and is playing dumb, dont always take the sides of the players.......I never did when I was a GM..........

Agreed. To me, it sounded like the person knew the money was stolen and that he never sold an item to anyone.
