Is it only limited to a BST job? So in other words, if you don't have a BST job, then you can't do the quest to get an NPC/Buddy to fight in battles alongside you until you do.
    Is this correct

        Re: This New NPC/Buddy Option

Okay, well I have read through the info on what is in the update, but I think that the description of it had me somewhat confused.

1 part of the notes I have quoted on for reference.

"The NPC may not be called during NPC escort quests, but may be used along with beastmasters’ pets, summoners’ avatars, and dragoons’ wyverns."

So from this, I am led to believe that because the new NPCs can be used along with pets, and summoned creatures e.t.c. it is giving me the impression that only players with a BST job can use one. (NPC)

So, I am not really sure if I am understanding the meaning of it properly.

It also mentions NPC escort quests. Again, I'm not really sure what it means by this. Is it referring to the normal quests given by NPCs around Vana 'Diel, or something else?

        I'm sorry about this. /blush
Everything is all so new in the update. It's sending my head in a bit of a spin.
        Please bare with me.

          Re: This New NPC/Buddy Option

It's usable by any job. Not just BST. They just added in that it's usuable with pets, avatars, and the wyvern because if you ever tried BST/SMN or DRG/SMN or DRG/BST you'll notice you can only have 1 pet/smn/wyvern. You can not have a wyvern and another pet or a wyvern and an avatar.

The escort quests are the 10k quests were you have to escort an NPC through a dungeon area, those quests usually require a good party to do ok and an alliance to do it easy.

              Hi.

Thanks for the info. You have helped clear this up in my mind.

Btw - I see you have recently become a moderator for the forums here.
Seems like just a short time ago too since I have not seen you been granted this position in past posts I have seen from you. (judging by your title, at least I THINK you're a moderator. Is this correct?)

              Congratulations!

Okay, I have another question to ask, if I may.

Again, it's still to do with the new NPC quest. But I just read that it's called "The Fellowship Quest" (cool! How appropriately named too)

Anyway, I can't seem to find any info on how to go about doing this quest.
The only info I have seen on 'allakhazam.com' and 'fxi.somepage.com' about this quest, is what the actual quest is about. So, there are no instructions which tell you for e.g. which city it starts in, and which starting NPC you speak to, to get this quest.

So, how do I get this quest please?

You start the quest at a mithra Luto in upper jeuno. It's a hot topics we've been talking here too.

                      Cool! Thnx for the info!

Gosh! It's quite a big quest isn't it? Reading through some of it, I realise that I'd probably have to try and gather a few other players to help me kill a NM, and then a dragon a bit later on. They both seem to be JUST a bit higher in LvL than both my jobs at the moment, so I guess I won't be able to take on this quest solo, as I was origianlly hoping to. /sigh

It's not always easy trying to grab a few players together, as a lot of the time I find that they just want to do something else.
But for a quest as new as this..... who knows? There might be quite a few players willing to help me, I hope.

I think you need to be lvl 40 to actually start the quest. Not too sure though
