  • Re: How to raise your NPC buddy

Glimmering Mica is in the Maze of Shakrami.

I am thinking that the log might be in Lufaise meadows or the coast.

Do you need your npc out to get the key items? I saw some people do it in Shakrami before they excavated. So I did the same thing and got the key item.

Hmm. I never saw a message when I entered the maze about two people needing to be there to excavate. If I did, then I must of missed it.

You can get the cs in Beaucine before you get the three items. I went to go fight Diablos after getting the npc quest. Right when I entered beaucine from Xarcabard I got it.

You only get the message when you go to excivate, then the message pops up if your in the right area.

        Lunascent Log is Jugner Forest
Glimmering Mica is Maze of Shakrami
        Mistroot is Giddeus

After getting all three, go to Glacier to lake nearest Fei'yin for a cs. Return to Neptune's Spire, and then Luto.

And now to try and figure out how to get the rest of the new quests ><

Likely bond points again I guess

See after I've called my NPC like 5 times seems to be the usual.

There are 3 new fellow quests:
            Blessed Radiance :
You get this around the 70th time you've called your fellow.
Time cap is shoud now be 75min and kills to 25mobs (if you've never thrown away your pearl).
The quest itself increases relationship with your fellow.

            Mirror Images :

            Mixed Signal :
            Raises cap to 65

Umm...I just got the 3rd level weapon upgrade choice, and decided to switch over from GK to H2H...well, I was in for a surprise. For one, my NPC (Healer style may have something to do with it) doesn't have any Martial Arts trait. For another, she was only swinging once, not twice. Her accuracy was incredibly low, and when she did hit, it was for under 20 damage (level 29 NPC.) Any thoughts? This is frustrating, and as far as I know NPCs don't need skill-ups (which doesn't change the fact that she still has no martial arts and is only swinging once.)

The healer style Fellow doesn't have ANY skill H2H weapons.
This is the only exception where else they have max skill for their level.

Urrgh...what a sore disappointment. It would've been ideal for kicking some undead ass seeing as they're always so troublesome and I'm a PLD. I'm not about to change her style either, because I'm nowhere near self-sufficient when soloing, and downtime is inevitable eventually. People without H2H skill hit only once, though? I didn't know that. And does the fighter style get Martial Arts?

Well, thanks for the info. I was starting to think it was bugged or something. I really appreciate it...but it looks like I'll have to stick with Great Katana for now x_x While we're on the subject, what do you guys take into consideration when picking weapons? I mainly take WS available into account when picking, since I have no way of knowing what weapon has the best damage-per-second. Are they all pretty equal?

Lets just say that in beta i got a RDM muleish thing, and i saw he can get h2h, and i only punched once, and i dont see why it could change now. You should have told me the npc was healer type

Healer type doesn't imply mage x_x My Healer type has always, and still does weild a Great Katana, and quite effectively. This is the first time I've heard any exceptions to the "NPCs have an A+ rank in all weapon." D:

Just wondering, anyone know how tough this solo BCNM 50 fight is after Blessed Raidiance? Im kinda worried that I will be doing it as whm, with my NPC lvl 43ish sometime soon.

My NPC is 44. I'm hoping it's going to be like the dragon fight and be capped at 50 but doable at about 45ish. Anyway, I have the quest now, gonna give it a try and let you know. If nothing else should be funny

                              Double Post Edited:
OK, I tried it as 50 whm/smn, and my NPC lvl 44 as PLD (I heard it countered the special move well). NPC took 100+ dmg per hit, even if the mob does hit insanely slowly. I even popped a yag drink and ran low on MP keeping her healed. I will try again when my NPC is higher lvl, but I had to run away when i realised it was a lost cause, got him to about 50% health... damnit...
