Yes, but then what good is it having a limited list and teasing you with other weapons which have good SC combinations for your job but you have to be careful because the NPC might use an AoE one that you don't want it to

Hmm... Maybe its just not that big a deal to me since i don't try to mb off sc's with my npc. Lotta acronyms in that sentence. >.> To me, I couldn't care less which sc my npc is doing as long as its not AoE. *shrugs*

I can see how some ppl may care tho. Especially mages. But, then again, there's no gaurantee your npc will use the ws you want it to use anyway because it has a list of 5 ws or so to choose from. And, I've not seen a pattern to determine which ws will be use at given times.

Mine seems to of favored Tachi:Hobaku the most many times making Fragmentation the SC result to most often occur. Once in a while she will Tachi:Kagero which only my dagger WSs will work with and not that greatly either

I love the SCs though because it usually ends up them doing around 100+ WS damage, then I do 200-500 WS damage, and then get a SC result of 100+ damage. I've yet to really have any poor SC results, probably only had 1 SC result that was bad being 8 damage but also was because the Mob resisted it.

Guessing which WS the NPC will do does seem impossible, but know when they are likely to do it is easy at least.

In the last 3. My NPC just stands there while I'm fighting.
In the first 2. My NPC leaves while in the middle of the fight.

Sorry, the text is too small to read. But, NPCs will not attack a target until you've engaged and hit a mob. As for leaving in the middle of a fight, NPCs have kill limits (15 at first then 20 after the eighteenth call) and time limits (45 minutes at first, then 55-60 minutes [the exact amount is uncomfirmed/unagreed upon]).

Actually, based on my actual experience, it is not exactly true in case of slept link. If you are fighting one and keep another slept, after you finished on and still be in your attack mode, NPC will go after slept mob.

That's true if you have the command "/autotarget on" typed. But, I meant specifically on non-linked mobs.

My npc is currently 34, should lvl next time i take her out. She seems to lvl every 2-3 times i take her out. Anyway about the shield thing, I got the option to give her a shield even tho i gave her a GSword for my first weapon. As an upgrade weapon i decided to switch it up and give her a GreatAxe. I've been keeping her on Attacker since lvl 31. Before i just was curious what she would cast as the Healer type. Go go casting Silence on spiders! Haven't fully read through this thread, but if i see something else i'll edit.

I editted the weapon list to reflect recent discoveries.

These are the weapons Luto will accept after the first six calls or so (provided by darksquall88):
                    • Cesti (level 1) (Hand-to-Hand)
                    • Bronze Knife (level 1) (Dagger)
                    • Xiphos (level 7) (Sword)
                    • Claymore (level 10) (Great Sword)
                    • Bronze Axe (level 1) (Axe)
                    • Butterfly Axe (level 5) (Great Axe)
                    • Bronze Zaghnal (level 1) (Scythe)
                    • Harpoon (level 1) (Polearm)
                    • Kunai (level 1) (Katana)
                    • Uchigatana (level 12) (Great Katana)
                    • Ash Club (level 1) (Club)
                    • Ash Staff (level 1) (Staff)
                      • The best weapons seem to be Uchigatana (Great Katana) (highest level weapon, highest damage, and lowest delay, most expensive, and easiest to skill chain with), Claymore (Great Sword) (mid-range level, damage, delay, and priced), and Butterfly Axe (Great Axe) (low level and priced, but high delay).
                      • Trying to trade two Kunai (Katana) for dual wield will not work. The NPC will just use a Kunai and a shield.
                      • I strongly recommend that you do not give your NPCs a Staff. NPCs will use the AoE weapon skill called Earth Crusher which may get your NPC killed.

These are the second set of weapon upgrades Luto will accept after the first twelve (could be more, could be less for some people) calls or so:
                    • Bronze Knuckles (level 5) (Hand-to-Hand)
                    • Bronze Dagger (level 1) (Dagger)
                    • Bronze Sword (level 1) (Sword)
                    • Two-Handed Sword (level 20) (Great Sword)
                    • Brass Axe (level 8) (Axe)
                    • Greataxe (level 12) (Great Axe)
                    • Brass Zaghnal (level 10) (Scythe)
                    • Bronze Spear (level 7) (Polearm)
                    • Wakizashi (level 7) (Katana)
                    • Tachi (level 8) (Great Katana)
                    • Bronze Hammer (level 5) (Club)
                    • Ash Pole (level 5) (Staff)
                      • The best weapons this time seem to be Two-Handed Sword (Great Sword) (highest level weapon and damage, relatively low delay, but most expensive), Tachi (Great Katana) (low level and damage, but low delay, least expensive, and easiest to skill chain with), and Greataxe (Great Axe) (mid-range level and damage though high delay, but mid-range priced).
                      • Same deal with Wakizashi (Katana) as Kunai for dual wield. The NPC will just use a Wakizashi and a shield.
                      • Yes, some of the second stage weapons are retrogrades as oppose to upgrades.
                      • Be mindful that some weapons offer AoE weapon skills. A quick list includes Spinning Attack for Hand-to-Hand (Mnk 49), Cyclone for Dagger (Thf 41), Circle Blade for Sword (Pld 49), Shockwave for Great Sword (Drk 49), Spinning Scythe for Scythe (Drk 41), and the aforementioned Earth Crusher for Staff (Pld 23). Keeping the weapon until your NPC reaches the level of the job that can use the specific weapon skill is fine. But, keeping it after could get your NPC killed. This means that Great Katana, Great Axe, Polearm, Axe, Katana, and Club are safe to give NPCs without having to worry about switching.
                      • Luto will accept shields as well as weapons. It is possible this shield option is only seen by those whose NPCs are Shield types or were given a one-handed weapon for their first upgrade. Of course, NPCs cannot use a two-handed weapon plus a shield. If you trade a shield that Luto will accept after trading a two-handed weapon, the two-handed weapon will probably be lost. Currently, the only known shields Luto will accept are Lauan Shield (level 1) and Shell Shield (level 7).
Jei, if you could update this on the original post (as well as add my mob list at http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/sho...080#post492080) I and several others I'm sure would appreciate it. ^^ Thanks.

                        Fastcart, I'm not sure how to make the text bigger ; ;

What I'm saying is that she is indeed standing there after I've kept fighting the mobs and that she left in the "middle" of the battle (as in the middle of the goblin's HP, not after the death of one like she usually does for a count of 15)

I'll try to find out if I can make the picture bigger or something, don't suppose just saving it and zooming in would work?

While the weapons are retrogrades for players ... I know that when I retro/upgraded my NPC from Uchigatana to Tachi, his average damage went *up*. It's possible that the NPC completely ignores the stats on the weapon, and it simply keeps track of two things: weapon type, and whether it's first or second list. And that info, rather than any particular DMG or delay stuff on the individual weapons, is what governs the NPC's damage.

I have no other reasonable explanation for why my NPC would do more damage with a worse weapon. He didn't level, I didn't change the mobs I was fighting, didn't start using Dia, or anything ... but his damage jumped from low 30's to mid 40's on average (with the occasional high hit in the 60's).

EDIT: Oh yeah, the two shields are Lauan Shield and Shell Shield.
