  • Re: How to raise your NPC buddy

    I'm tempted to believe Macht's /random among your current job levels. With taking very minimal damage on spikes in Xarcabard, my buddy reverted to level 1 RSE and scale. Ouch.

      As of late my npc has enjoyed wearing the distinctive blue chainmail (lvl 24 min Beastmaster, Dark Knight, Ninja, Paladin, Samurai, Warrior). I have no job close to being high enough that could equip it (closest is a lvl 9 war). That rules out it being selective to equip in your job range. As for a lower end of the randomization, that doesn't seem feasible either as I have seen several friends who have all their melee jobs at 30+, yet the npc still wears lvl 17 lizard armor and lvl 24 chainmail which would be below the available lvl according to that theory. Neither limit of that theory holds.

        True enough... so much for that theory. It's frustrating how random this seems to be... at least when the dice don't come up in your favor.

          I just thought this because I never seen her wear any gear under lv. 10 and lv. 10 is lowest job I have. Not once has my character worn lv. 1 RSE were I see many others with the same race and all wearing RSE.
          Nope this doesn't work. All the jobs on the character I have an NPC with are 65+. The other day my npc had rse body on. ; ;

                No. They go away by themselves whether you want them to or not.

                Thanks Yyg!

                    see I find this funny, all the people that are not doing NPC or leveling it up becaise "there in no use for it" or "its pointless" will be saying something diffrent when the NPC shows what they are really for, or proves to be really REALLY usefull but only after takeing good care of them. hehe just saying ^,^

                      actually, my wife got some pretty good use out of the NPC leveling a mage job <10. the NPC would tank EM for some decent XP.

                      Thanks Yyg!

                        Actually, as Healer style my NPC was casting Slow, Paralyze, and Silence on mobs as well as hitting me up with Protect II and Shell. Still had a sword out too, and buffed herself with SS and Blink. So in a way, they are pretty RDM-ish in Healer mode >_>

                            I haven't seen anyone else mention this but yesterday I had an intresting surprise occur. After leveling them 10 levels with my friends and all, we suddenly had an occurence were the members in our party/alliance that had NPCs of 34 or less leave after 15 kill, the ones of 35-39 we started counting (To see if maybe if it was some fluke, and ours did not get 1 kill or so) and theirs lasted 5 more kills, then the final surprise was that even though the 2 in that range left the 1 with the lvl. 40 NPC still remained, we continued to finish theirs of and again another 5 more kills.

                            We all had called our NPC at the same time and every NPC was present for each mob we killed. Next time we are going to count them to make sure but it looks almost like each 5 levels gave our NPCs 5 more kills they can do (Don't know if it extended the time).

                              could it be possible that you gain an extra kill for every lvl your npc gains ???

                                Umm... I think it's been mentioned that npcs around lvl 37 and higher last for 20 kills after the August 1st update.
