My NPC usually tells me that she's ready if my TP is between 50%-99%. Lower than 50 or above 100 she will use WS right away without warning. The interesting thing is that my NPC never wait for me to WS first, but always uses hers.

I concur. But, since I'm sam/rng, I wind up killing mobs with meditate > sidewinder. Then, my npc will start the next fight with a ws because I sidewindered the last mob before he could use his ws.

This is all becoming incredibly boring. It's becoming incredibly hard to find places to level her without getting myself killed in the process. She isn't useful, she doesn't level at any normal or specific rate, so what's the point? =/

Something makes me think SE thought this through and isn't telling us everything.

I really dunno where you can lvl the NPC to get it to higher lvls... it cant go into any dungeons...

You can stay in Yhaotor til 50. Kill Goblin Bouncers and Hunters. Then your npc can hit 65+ in Ro'Meave (pearl works there) and Bibiki Bay. That'll keep you busy for a few months.

1. Shield
   • Warns when low on HP
   • Resist Sleep, UndeadKiller
   • Provoke Usage: At beginning of the fight, after 30 recast, when you HP is below yellow, if you sheath and redraw your weapon.
2. Attacker
   • Double Attack, Counter
   • Warns when TP is reaching 100%
   • WS Usage: Will warn if your TP is around 50%~99% (if dialogue is set) and will wait for you to reach 100%.
   • Will otherwise use it immediately.
3. Healer
   • Uses White Magic (CureIII, ProtectII, Shell, Stoneskin, Dia, ...)
   • Will warn when low on MP, and when rested and regained enough.
   • Don't have skill in Hand-to-Hand so will only use one hand if given Hand-to-Hand Weapons.
   • In Battle: Will cast Cure, Paralyze, Silence, Dia, Slow etc while fighting with weapon.
   • Will still cast Silence on non magic caster mobs...
   • Other: Casts Protect and Shell, Cures if hurt and removes negative Status Ailments.
   • Can sometimes cast Raise in a party of more than 2 PC's.
4. etc.
   • WS if dependant on the weapon your NPC buddy is using.
   • Will not get killchain bonus. Sneak and Trick able.
   • Lifetime: 45min or 15 Kills (total kills, non exp and pet only kills included).
   • Unconfirmed: Equipment may be downgraded when your NPC Buddy dies.

Suggested Areas for middle NPC levels?
Starters - Around Jeuno: Beastmen, etc
Western Altepa Desert: Spiders (upto 37)
Beaucedine Glacier: Gigas, Ahriman (upto 37)
Yhoator Jungle: Opo-opo Nest (upto 37)
Yhoator Jungle: Crawlers (upto 40)
Behemoth's Dominion: Bats (upto 37~40)
Behemoth's Dominion: Weapons, Bones(upto 42)
The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah: Goobbue(upto 37)
The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah: Fly(upto 38)
Attohwa Chasm: Fly (upto 41)

Ok i found some information from 2ch. It seemed that after the 21 time of calling out your npc you get change the head gear for your npc

it would make more sense if it were at 24, it has doubled every other time, 3 to change job, 6 to give it a weapon, 12 for weapon upgrade.....gonna be a list of certain headgear again? lol

got my weapon upgrade last night, probably get my NPC to 35 today/tomorrow

Now after 18 calls(I'm pretty sure it was 18) I received a new option talking to the NPC. "Let's talk about appearences." Choosing this lets you tell you NPC to get headgear. When I selected it she put on a tiara. When I selected it again she took it off. So I'm guessing the headgear will be random like other gear but you have the option whether to turn it on or off.
