Question: Since all of you are basin yours off of bein 75s killin too weaks, what about the ones of us that dont have a job high enough to kill Too Weaks which are IT for a 30? What should we do?

You should find a PC buddy (or 2) who wants to lvl his/her NPC buddy and make a PC/NPC spt. ^^ I've been doing that with my spt thf. You kill a lot faster. And who knows, maybe they get more xp from fast xp chains.

If you read carefully, the person who made the GM Call made a mistake and talked about getting a new pearl from the quest giver (Luto Mewrilah), not from the Rendezvous Point. I doubt it's an exploit, considering there's already a limit of one extra pearl per day.

If it is an exploit, I wouldn't be surprised that some day soon the next time one of us drops a pearl and asks for a new one we'll find the same timer on it as was on the old one.

Crap!! No wonder my npc keeps getting newb gear past two days. SE caught on and fixed it!! *kicks Kazrift*

My NPC keeps getting scale and lowby gear (even for lvl 30). My spt thf's NPC wasn't wearing a body piece today. So looks like its time to stop tossing pearls unless you don't care how your npc looks.

More likely the gear downgrades are from your NPC dying, or changing your NPC's combat style.

Also, I feel it is much more likely that the source of this problem was a lack of information getting to GMs, and not that there is an actual exploit.

Also consider the possibility that the cause for the limits both in the time the NPC sticks around and the number of times you can call her isn't for balance so much as it is to limit the load on the servers. If the servers prove to be capable of handling the current addition, perhaps they will add on quests to allow you to call your NPC more times each day.

Volkai has a very valid point. If each person had their buddy out at the same time the servers would most likely crash. I'm sure the different zones help to spread out the load, but they're probably beta testing the stress they're cause by limiting them to 20 hours recast.

Well I did have mine out was killing very slow, just kind of enjoying my time and I found roughly around 1hr they'll give a message "On my I didn't know it was so late." and bolt on you. It doesn't even matter if you are currently in a fight or not, with the 15 kills she leaves after the 15th kill. For time though it definately seems to be around 1 hr.

I tried trading a Wakizashi but it didn't work however a Kunai did.

Wakizashi = rank 2 type katana, you need to let luto say that it's time to upgrade her weapons etc etc.

It's definitely from dropping pearl. My NPC hasn't died since the 21st. And I never change it's combat style from the time I first could. It seems SE has caught on to the dropping pearl exploit and made our npc revert to start gear. If would you read my NPC journal in my signature, you'd see that my npc was steadily advancing in armor upgrades until the 24th. Then, he started reverting and hasn't gain much in the way of gear since.

my NPC randomly downgrades her armors too. I think it's really all random.

Well on 4th call only on mine and she has not once downgraded her armor. I'll say though when she does. I can already say death isn't associated though, mine has died once but never downgraded her armor it's just gone up.

I think the armor is just randomly chosen for looks more then anything else. Much like the normal NPCs, the pet NPCs can wear just about anything they feel like wearing. I see this as an attempt to keep each NPC looking unique in some way shape or form, cause if it's based soley on performance then after a while everyone will have teh same NPC =/

My npc's armor changes between high lvl mage (for a lvl 30), low lvl melee, rse, high lvl melee constantly and with no apparent pattern. Last time she had on some high mage body, low melee boots, rse pants, high melee gloves. It looks to be totally random and I can't tell a difference in the dmg it takes.

Like was said before, the 20 hour limit is most likely a limit on how many are out at one time until they see how much the servers can manage. Making it like a wyvern would result in player population in outdoor zones nearly doubling since everyone would have it out constantly. This would create a big jump in AI costs on the server managing all those npcs in addition to keeping track of so many extra characters.

well i finaly got to the change weapon option recently. was trying to decide what weapon to use for an effective attacker NPC. when it comes to damage, i prefer hth or a dual wield approach over 2 hand weapons. the sad part is, nobody as of yet has figured out how to get your NPC to dual wield, so i decided to try hand to hand, hoping that maybe the NPCs get the martial arts job trait which makes hth worthwhile.

so i give my NPC some cesti and bring along some lizard cesti to check and see what the delay difference is between my attacks and NPCs. Now i am a lvl 48 RDM, and i subbed 18 war to make sure i had access to hand to hand skills. i go to kazham to and start testing out my NPC with hand to hand weapons. As usual, the NPC started out with what seemed like max hth skills as she used One Inch Punch, Shoulder Tackle, and Combo. Regardless, NPCs don't seem to have access to Martial Arts at all. In fact, i was attacking faster than her, which disturbed me greatly as we both were using delay +48 weapons and neither of us had the Martial Arts job trait. also note, i didnt have any haste items and had not casted haste on myself

all of this is a bit disapointing to me, and i guess i will be switching my NPC to another weapon as hth seems gimp. guess i will be using one of the two hand weapons untill somebody finds a way for the NPC to dual wield, hth better, or use ranged attacks. that or my NPC gets high enough lvl that i actualy want her tanking and she could use the shield.

hope this helps anyone who was considering making a monk style DOT NPC. if anybody can explain why my NPC had more delay than i did, that would also be great. otherwise, this is probably the best forum ive read so far about the NPCs, keep up the great work everyone

Com'n guys, the most obvious reason why your npc changed armor to the cheaper one, was because they were Auctioning their old piece of armor and had nothing else to wear! They sell their armor just like we do!

Mine went to tarutaru rse level 1 but bought a pair of leaping boots! You can't expect them to be as rich as we are. Maybe you should try trading Luto some Gil so they can buy better armor?

Oh, BTW Jei can you also post the level 1 set like you did with the level 2 set in english & japanese? I can't seem to find it on the site.

Mine has swtiched to 3 pieces of the RSE starting gear. I'll check again after I drop the pearl to check for any change.

Mine has never switched to any RSE gear, she has what looks like leaping boots on now along with a Doublet. The gloves and leggings are hard to tell though but I know they are not RSE gear. So when did you guys notice yours in RSE gear? after the first time you called or when?
